http://www.theatlantic.com/doc/200806/obama-finance

This is an absolute must read article in the Atlantic Monhtly about the Silicon Valley network that created the Obama "concept" simply because they wanted to see how they could use the internet in a national political campaign.

Tragically, this offer was not picked up when initially presented to the Clinton campaign .... and the rest is history. What is chilling is the fundraising machine was not created for Obama, but as an experiment just to see how something like this could work.

And perhaps is why there has been such a deep drop off in donations now that the dirty deed has been done and buyer's remorse has set in.

Read this and pass it on. There are lessons to learn, and they must be learned well.

I got an email from Emily's list, saying that Michelle Obama is now being targeted with sexism by the media. They asked me to sign a petition and comment, speaking out against this. Well I thought long and hard about this, because who was there to speak out for Hillary? Well I decided to go for it but I started out with,
Even though I am a Clinton Dem and will not be voting for Obama,
Anyway here's my comment:
Even though I am a Clinton Dem and will not be voting for Obama, I am appalled to see that Michelle Obama is now being targeted in blatant misogyny. Whether I like Mrs. Obama or not is not the issue, sexism in the media is not OK. It's not OK with my grandmother, mother, daughter or granddaughters, nor should it be with yours. I taught my children to judge a person on the content of their character and not the color of their skin or their gender. What hideous lessons did your parents teach you?
Puma!

I recommend we all do likewise, this way we kill two flies with one swat and let the media execs know, Clinton Dems are still here and growing and we're not OK with sexism in the media no matter who it is.
Here's the link.

#696 - I was born in Hawaii in 1959 (before Hawaii became a state in August). I don't have my original, original birth certificate but I have had to order (and re-order) copies throughout the years because, well, because I was fairly unorganized in my youth! My most recent copy is very similar to what I saw posted somewhere. I know people really, really want to believe it isn't true, but I can only base this on my own reality. I will say that my mother's birth certificate is quite different from this one. On hers, all the information ("this is certified to be a true copy" etc) is actually on the REVERSE side of the cert. The "copy" seal is invisible to the eye, but you can feel it with your fingers. It feels like a bunch of holes were poked through the paper with a tiny little pin. It doesn't show up if you copy it on a xerox machine, but you can "feel" it with your hands. I'm not a troll, I'm not a spy. I just think this whole issue is a non-issue - at least from where I stand. birth certificate in hand.

Bron,

As you can see by my name here, I have made up my mind who I will vote for (should Hillary not be the nominee). I too could not see myself voting republican, I have spent the last 7 yrs in tears over Bush. But I am voting McCain for several reasons.

1. Its a protest vote, I feel my vote will be more powerful against Obama
2. If not now for Hillary than 2012
3. He is not McSame, do check out their website.
4. Tax cuts hmmm let me address this. We have had a small business for the past 18years. When the housing market slowed so did our income. We went from a debt free life (exception mort.) to the most debt we have had in our lives. My husband had to close his doors and take a job fours hours from home. I am here with four children, he is there in a rental. But they cover health ins and steady income. The tax cuts for the wealthy really pisses me off. HOWEVER, I much as I hate to say this and I hate to say this. If it wasnt for a very well to do person that owns this company he is working for he would not have a job. The argument that the rich create jobs is I guess true. I can tell you over the course of 18years our small business has not created many jobs for others. We, of course are trying to get my husband back here and restart the business. We sat down with our CPA running through the numbers, do we move, do we stay, is this worth it etc.... Anyway she told me that if Obama gets in our "small business will pay between 25-30% more in tax". If that is the case then we cannot be in business for ourselves.
5. I feel McCain will keep our country safer than Obama
6. McCain is a patriot with boys serving in the military, that counts for something. I am sure he wants them safe and home.
7. Michelle Obama keeps telling everyone on the stump that when Barak is in office. Ours lives will change, we will not be ALLOWED to conduct our lives as we are use to. Now that wouldnt scare so much except with that same speech, she tells us we are cynical people. I cant say I trust him based on his friends. How will my life change? Helping others....thats fine. But I have not seen proof that is what she means. I am just too cynical I guess!
8. McCain will be somewhat of a sitting duck with all those Dems in congress.

Sorry to be so long winded and I am not trying to convince you to vote McCain. Just telling you my reasons. But more than any of it I want Hillary in now or 2012.

Morning Pumas one and all
Howard Dean does not want to hear from us any more! Sigh, oh my!

He said that he received too many emails from our address and the limit had been exceeded. Maybe Donna Brazile can forward them to him. Ya think?
