Thanks for nothing, Senators!

So, ten women U.S. Senators are trying to get us to fall in line behind the Selected Nominee. Hmm, where were they in January, February, March, April, and May when one of their most distinguished and respected colleagues was being publicly humiliated and attacked with vicious sexist attacks, race-baiting divisiveness, and lies about her record?

Pumas, tonight let’s take it a bit easy. Listen to some great music, and share it with the fine Senators who want us to forgive and forget.

Send a link to this youtube clip to the Ten Senators who didn’t have time to watch Senator Clinton’s back but now want us to watch Senator Obama’s.

Copy and paste this link into your email and send it to the Ten Senators who now want us to hop on the Unity Pony after the Sexist Horse has left the barn. Checklist for Change? Not so much.

ARG! Well, here’s my letter to Senator Boxer…

Dear Senator Boxer,

I was saddened to see your name on the list of those women now pushing the democratic public to back Barack Obama. I truthfully wondered why you had taken no stance up until this point, (that I could find published). I am for Hillary. But above and beyond that, I vote for the person I truly believe will be the best in the position. I actually hoped, and signed many of my support emails for your causes, “Boxer for President”. But you did not run. Hillary did.
I now ask that you lead the charge, as you have led on so many other occasions, to launch a full investigation into the actions of the DNC, and its’ leader Howard Dean, during the primary run for the Democratic Nomination.
You have never, run with the crowd before, I truly do not understand why you do so now.

PUMA’s, did you read this about us today–

The Pumas are the most loyal and outspoken of Clinton supporters who are well-attuned to the issues and unwilling to sacrifice their values, beliefs, and love for this nation by voting for an “illegitimate” candidate. The PUMA embodies the independent ideals & spirit instilled upon us by our forefathers. The PUMAs understand the issues and will not be swayed by party rhetoric. The PUMA recognizes Barack Obama for the person he is: ‘A “Bossism-Style” Politician Molded by and Beholden to the Corrupt Chicago Political Machine’.

OK, just emailed them all. Told them “Too little – too late”. We would not fall in line. The DNC has broken it’s own rules and disenfranchised their loyal voters. At some point we have to take a stand. That point is now.

I’m still very confused as to why Obama hasn’t been jailed for theft. Obama didn’t stand up as a man and declare, since I wasn’t on the ballot I shouldn’t have got those votes, and he didnt say to the Sd’s you shouldnt give me Hillarys votes, and he didnt stop the process of only half voters. I’m sorry but to me that’s thievery or at the very least abetting criminals.

Well, apparently they think we are idiots and if women tell us we should fall in line, then we will listen.
I sent my e-mails earlier to them and I made it very clear if HRC was not on the ballot I would be voting for McCain. I included that I don’t agree w/ a lot of McCain’s platforms but I really don’t agree w/ how undemocratically “selected” the golden boy is and if the DNC cannot protect citizen’s votes, how can they protect reproductive freedom or equal pay.
Thanks but no thanks.

Just voted on the AOL poll. When does that “charm school” begin for her?

Different Topic: I have not seen this posted, yet. As I was listening to the news regarding the Muslin Women being moved out of photo range the other night when Al Gore gave his speech, it was also reported that he (Al) WOULD NOT be campaigning for Barack. Reason given was conflicting schedule, etc. Sean Hannity said it twice during his radio show today. Don’t have a link to the story, but will be on the “prowl” looking. Has anyone else heard this?

#27 ladyhawkke on 06.18.08 at 7:37 pm

Contacting those delegates up for re-election won’t do any good if you are not from their state. I’m from Florida and a CA senator could care less what I think. Also, the links provided go to their websites and only accept comments from their constituents. In the past, I used an address and zip code from their district to leave a comment.

Does this apply to US Senators? I know many congressmen/women do not accept mail from anyone but their constituents, but those who don’t have it written explicitly on their sites. I’m wondering if the case is different for senators? Many of them are on committees that handle issues of concern to the whole country, not only their own constituents. So, I’m wondering if they’ll take mail from across the country….

#35 AM on 06.18.08 at 7:47 pm

I got e-mail from Barbara Boxer asking me tom “choose a challenger”; I sent her the following reply:

Before I can choose a challenger from your list, I have to know which of them are Hillary Clinton supporters. Although a lifelong, vote in every election for decades, democrat, this year I will not vote for those who stood up for misogyny, i.e. Obama supporters. Nor will I vote for Obama, if he becomes the nominee. PUMA

#36 MuchAdoAboutSomething on 06.18.08 at 7:50 pm

I’ve gotten a couple of “Out of State” email replies.

#37 kavala007 on 06.18.08 at 7:52 pm

My letter to the senators:

Please know that this life long Democrat will not vote for the DNC’s selected nominee if it is Senator Obama. Also, I will not donate to the DNC or any Democrat until some common sense returns to the party and its “leaders’”. To do so would be to back a party that is so anti-democratic that it would mean that I would be voting against my country.

If the primary had actually been a primary, I would have supported the winning side. It was not. In addition, the fear and terror that I now detect in Congressional “leaders” rushing to endorse Senator Obama reminds me of Congress rushing out of the building during the threat of 9/11. It was not a pretty picture then; it is not one now.

I do not understand why election year after election year the Democrats put up the losing candidate. One just has to look qt the batting average over the past 28 years (.288) to know that is true. To me the 10 female senators now urging us to “fall in line” after this shameful primary is very sad. It does not speak well of any of us.

It is a truly a sad day for many of us regardless of the what happens in the future.

Sincerely yours,

I visit pumaspac daily but wish I had more time to participate. I will try to engage in more activism to further our cause!

Here’s some comments I made to Murphy’s previous blog-post (the one from this morning). I could probably use some of these points (with a little editing) in my letters to senators, superdelegates, etc. I save everything I post that I spend time composing in order to recycle, with some adapting, and work into other posts in newssites (etc) and in letters. It’s a great time-saver for a busy person like me.

RE: the morning blog-post, “It’s the Disenfranchisement, Stupid!” (which was great), I have some comments on one part of it:

Even if the media and the DNC had treated both Hillary and BO fairly, I would still be dissatisfied and concerned if BO was the nominee.
I would still want to protest and be upset about the fact that BO’s strategy and win was largely based on winning caucuses, which leave out and disenfranchise many voters… especially with Hillary winning most of the primaries of the crucial “big” blue states. I would still protest, and be upset about, the DNC’s unfair delegate distribution system.

I would still disdain and cry out about the prevalent mentality that predisposes people to be swept up by “rock-idol”-type charisma and sugary pie-in-the-sky promises instead of evaluating the candidates in terms of substance, experience, policy-record, personal background (such as history of associations and involvements) and their know-how and competency. I think Hillary is far superior to BO in all these counts.

I just don’t think BO is fit to lead our nation and the free world. His many “negatives,” lack of experience and the ideologies and matrix of associations and corruption that he comes out of should worry any thoughtful voter.

Sometime tonight between 6 – 7 pm Ed is scheduled to appear on “Special Report with Brit Hume,” the highest rated political program on cable television. Hi My Friends,

I’m bringing this over from the other thread. (I’m a little slow. I missed the transition.)

Don’t worry too much about rumors regarding the Denver police and their preparation for the convention. Yes, they’re preparing for rioters. However, based on what I’ve seen and done in my own county, I’m inclined to believe that it’s only a subset of what they’re planning.

The convention is a high-profile event, making it a potential target for terrorists. Everyone in the emergency response arena is looking at all possible scenarios and developing plans to deal with whatever comes their way.

I’m a volunteer firefighter with many friends in law enforcement. Please know that the police (and other emergency responders) who will be at the convention are just like you and me. They’re people with families. They care passionately about the future of our country. They have varying political preferences, based on whom they believe will do the best job.

But most of all, every one of those emergency responders wants to go home safely to their families at the end of the day. Whatever preparation they are making to deal with rioters and other problems is all about going home safely to their loved ones and making sure that other convention attendees can do the same.

If you go to the convention, even to protest, please take a moment to thank the police and other emergency responders who are there to keep you safe. A thank-you goes a long way with people who are putting their lives on the line to protect yours.

hey guys, before everyone gets carried away with thinking that this is a unity thing to get behind bo, the press release for it is as follows so please please don’t get too carried away because it sounds to me that it is just about uniting to tell the republicans to do their jobs and has nothing to do with bo or mccain… i know for instance that murray and cantwell are still supporters of hill, so please read the following release because this is what it was meant to do – again i repeat has nothing to do with bo or mccain (btw, i promise i am not a troll, just trying to spread what is released on democrats.org before everyone gets carried away being mad at these women even when some of them still support hillary). sorry if i made anyone mad, but i am just really into researching these things especially when the two senators who i really respect and know are still behind hillary end up on this list… thanks for all your time:

Today the Women Democratic Senators unveiled their ‘Checklist for Change’ agenda. Tonight all nine women Democratic Senators will be featured on CNN’s Larry King Live, which will air at 9 ET.

At today’s launch at the historic Sewall-Belmont House Senator Milkulski described their motivation for their list:

Day after day, this Republican Congress is failing America. We’ve been in session for 76 days and Republicans have squandered time, opportunity and taxpayers’ money. We challenge Senate Majority Leader Frist to bring real issues to the floor instead of detouring the Senate with bills that focus on re-electing Republicans. We need to get Senate back on track. There are only 33 legislative days left in session to shift the focus to get something done.
The Checklist for Change includes:

* Safeguard America’s Pensions
* Keep Good Jobs in America
* Make College Affordable for All
* Protect America and Our Military Families
* Prepare for Future Disasters
* Make America Energy Independent
* Make Small Business Health Care Affordable
* Invest in Life-Saving Science
* Protect Our Air, Land and Water

Sending several tonight!

Was looking for some concrete thing to attach to it and found a copy of BO’s letter of support for Todd Stroger (good lord hello Chicago politics) complete with all kinds of good background.

For anyone not familiar the quick story is that BO didn’t support the “reform” challenger (CLaypool) in the election. He stayed silent to not offend the (hack) incumbent. When said incumbent had a stroke, they kept things in limbo until they put up his son- whom BHO enthusiastically supported. That helped him win.

A good one to pass on– shows that even in 2006 some Chicagoans knew what he was really about and his bubble was burst. Stroger of course has been a disaster. So shows both lack of judgment AND corruption on the part of Mr. Iamnotapolitician.

I’m not sure it can break through the haze to reach some of the hardcore junkies but perhaps will reach a few intelligent minds meanwhile.

I plan to pass on a copy of his letter… far and wide. Show the kind of BS he’s capable of:

I was amazed that my comment made it onto Hillary Clinton’s website. Lately anything not “unifying” was simply not posted.
Here is what I posted:

The strongest candidate-
Dear Senator Clinton:

I remain convinced that you are the best candidate to lead our country out of the mess that it is in and deeply saddened and disappointed by my Party’s selection.

I hope you run again in 2012 because the country is really going to need you.

I am writing your name in in the General Election. I have no choice as the other two candidates are just not strong enough and visionary enough to lead our country. At least I will take a stand with my write in vote for you–it is allowed in my state.

Here are the lyrics to the revolution:
you may find them inspiring.
You say you want a revolution
Well, you know
We all want to change the world
You tell me that it’s evolution
Well, you know
We all want to change the world
But when you talk about destruction
Don’t you know that you can count me out
Don’t you know it’s gonna be all right
all right, all right

You say you got a real solution
Well, you know
We’d all love to see the plan
You ask me for a contribution
Well, you know
We’re doing what we can
But when you want money
for people with minds that hate
All I can tell is brother you have to wait
Don’t you know it’s gonna be all right
all right, all right
Ah

ah, ah, ah, ah, ah…

You say you’ll change the constitution
Well, you know
We all want to change your head
You tell me it’s the institution
Well, you know
You better free you mind instead
But if you go carrying pictures of chairman Mao
You ain’t going to make it with anyone anyhow
Don’t you know it’s gonna be all right
all right, all right
all right, all right, all right
all right, all right, all right

#59 mayor0102 on 06.18.08 at 8:12 pm

Murphy, Thanks for the song. I cried, but its not over by a long ways.

To all. This is my letter to Senator Murray. I sent a thank you card and letter by e-mail over the weekend. In response to the opening of this thread, I sent the following e-mail. Will do the same with Senator Cantwell? They are both true champions for women. If they are to continue to do the work for our State that they have so successfully done (one of the lower unemployment rates in the U.S), I cannot and will not discontinue my support of them. But I certainly will share with them my feelings and opinions. They will both honor my missives.

The Most Honorable Senator Murray,
I sent snail mail to you and realize that it will take some time getting to you, but I wanted to make my case clear to you in my own handwriting. First, you are great Senator and a fantastic, respected woman. I thank you for all that you have done for the State of WA. I will continue to support you, however, you must know that I am now an Independent. I have joined PUMA (People United Means Action). I am not a bitter person as you know nor am I uneducated. But I have reach my limit with the Democratic Party. Because I am a citizen first, I must protest the DNC’s choice to disinfranchise so many voters and completely disregard the will of the people in so many ways in the past months. The last straw for me as a former Party member was the unwillingness of the Party and its “selected” nominee to fight against the terrible treatment of women both in the national media and within the Party itself. As a former elected official, I did receive the same type of treatment only much less pulbic than Senator Clinton. I had a place in the Party where I was able to stand up for the right of women and ability to make decisions for the people. But I increasingly have found that the Party does not want to listen. It’s not about being a sore looser and all the other names that we have been called. It’s about standing up finally to the mistreatment of women who are fully qualified. In summary, I will peacefully and respectfully decline your offer and plea to join with the Party in supporting the selected nominee. Thank you. (name)

People might want to read the details themselves and respond. There is still plenty to complain about.

Here are some quotes from the article:

“Democrats hope to bolster their majority this year, and they likely will, according to many projections. But a “filibuster-proof” majority of 60 members would be difficult to attain. With such a majority, Democrats could prevent filibusters, parliamentary maneuvers used by the minority party to thwart legislation.

Republicans were skeptical about whether the group would accomplish its changes, saying that Democrats two years ago used change as a catalyst to win a Senate majority.

Democrats were just as eager to talk about change in 2006 in order to win the election, but the American people have yet to see the change they promised,” said Rebecca Fisher, spokeswoman for the National Republican Senatorial Committee. “How can voters be sure that this time they really mean it?”

“Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, D-N.Y., was the only female Democratic senator not to attend a news conference about the checklist Tuesday. Her colleagues said Clinton supports the goals of the group and will join the campaign later this year.”

I’d say sending the letters doesn’t violate anything. None of these Senators actively stood up for Hillary. They just let her get railroaded. Some of them stayed by her to the end …..but still that doesn’t change the fact that none of them actively protested her treatment or challeneged the DNC’s fraudulent election.

Besides, who are THEY to speak for Hillary?! Didn’t Hillary once say she speaks for herself! How dare they!

#51 Evy: I read your latest letter on Hillary’s blog. I thought it was great; especially liked the part of writing in her name on the ballot. Mine didn’t make it this time; figured it was too pro-Hillary. I just got back from the Village, and many of the folks are coming home…..:) I see Mayor0102 is here too, they sent a great letter to the Editor yesterday. Way to go!! I just pray Dean doesn’t take her name off the ballot at the Convention. I am heading back to the Village……

#68 DancesWithPumas on 06.18.08 at 8:22 pm

Absurd!! Sending out women to convince us to get behind Obummer… as if…

These women are watching Oblow’s back (from the required 3 steps behind him, no doubt) and completely ignoring the DNC / RBC illegal manipulations.

Dean et al have not had the decency to give Senator Clinton the benefit of even the pretense of fairness throughout the primaries. Dean et al are bonded with each other as men. To capitulate in August would be their equivalent of “emasculating” Obama and their guilt as white male heirs of privilege and dominance in the U.S. (and elsewhere) wouldn’t allow it.

Making over MO is sexist. She’s a lawyer, his ex-mentor, a strong woman with opinions (agree with them or not), and they’re trying to “soften” her, make her appear less strong (and therefore more likable), turn her into a lackwitted airhead. Ugh. Pigs.

I don’t think I could unless and until there was a major overhaul – a major purge, particularly of leaderhip. I don’t trust any of them now. I’d prefer for them not to have power as a party until the clean-up is complete and even then, I’d have to think long and hard before supporting them….

#73 Goalucard4Hill on 06.18.08 at 8:28 pm

Just made the mistake of turning on the TV and CNN was on the channel with Cambell Brown – our favorite – they show that the no named one has the lead in Ohio, Penna and Florida – you have to win at least two of those States to be the President or at least since the 60′s. Bad thing is that he has a 12 Point lead in Penna – and they attribute that to white women – and past Hillary Clinton supporters – that is so sad – the publicity he is getting from this would give him the office with more than enough electoral votes if he got all three States as of now.

Obama was asked about the Hispanic voters and he said he was very confident they would not be a problem, but the man of with Lou seemed to think otherwise.

Fire bell and Fire Chief

Firebell -#42 Thanks for the reassurance about Denver. Anyone that has any experience with “incident command” knows exactly what Denver emergency services is doing. I’m not a bit afraid of the increased presences of police, fire, and medical aid. Thanks for all you do for people in Colorado. You folks are “the best”.

FireChief – I’m glad that Webfoot responded to your questions. My utmost respect goes to you and yours for what you do every day. My son is a firefighter so I’m very acquainted with the life of a firefighter, plus I’ve worked with fire and emergency agency in our county for many years on planning and implementation of incident command.

Question for both of you. The IAFF came out in support of Senator Dodd during the primary. Has there been any other recognition or endorsement since then. I’ve been on their site and in the political part and there is no mention of a second endorsement. They tend to go Demoratic. I will always support the issues of the emergency services community. I can still do that as an Independent. I hope all who blog here will join me in saying a huge thank you and give full support to both of you and your agencies.

I live in Ohio, no way will Nobama win here, absolutely no freaking way! These polls are to scare people, they want them to jump onboard, they want to make it seem that everyone is doing it. Well guess what, they don’t scare me and shouldn’t scare anyone else either. Don’t watch and don’t listen to this crap. Never, ever will I vote for him and no one else I know will either. I live in Toledo, it’s a fairly urban area and I remember clearly when they called our county for Obama, then a bit later had to retract and chalk another up for Clinton. #26 Jeremy,
Here’s an article about the incident you’re referring to:

Quote:
I can really feel for this lady. yep, lots of folks are bamboozled into believing Obama’s message only to find out that the reality of it is that he discriminates against a lot of folks. It happens all the time. Not to seem non empathetic but get used to it. They don’t call him Snobama for nothing.

////

Great article – thanks for the link!

When I looked into Obama early on, one of the things that really turned me off was how, during his state senate race, he sent teams of lawyers to challenge the petitions of his two opponents (both black) and had so many thrown out, they were both disqualified and he “won” by default (sound familiar?).

What really got me was that they challenged and disqualified any signature that was not written in cursive, but was printed. I know that many, many poor and elderly people cannot write in cursive and “print” their signatures. So his thugs were disqualifying the least powerful constituents and the very people he claims to care about. That really struck me and I think of it often. What does it say about his character? He always brushes these things off as “that’s how it’s done in Chicago politics” — but then what does that say about his claim to be a “new kind of politician?”

Mayor0102, thanks for your work with emergency services agencies. Emergency personnel are one big family, no matter where we are from.

I couldn’t tell you where the IAFF stands. I haven’t paid attention. I’m not even sure where my own department stands.

I’ve been trying to stay under the radar lately. The volunteers don’t have as much leeway to speak out as our paid firefighters do. Plus Administration hasn’t been too happy with me since I began fighting the County’s illegal and bad-faith conduct after I injured my knee in the line of duty. So its night and the moon is out somewhere (not here). We have to herd in the chickens, pigs, and sheep. We also have to send out the bowling balls, play money, pennies, check halves, and whatever ideas there were. Where’s goanderson? Did the thought of trolls scare him?

Firebelle, Sorry about the injured knee? Chain of command thing is hard? We still don’t have women in our local dept. The county does (a captain). Keep the faith in the sisterhood. There’s more brotherhood behind you than you’d think. Firechief, no disrespect to you. It’s just being part of the “family”. And all families have their ups and downs. I do have admiration for volunteer fire fighters. They do their own job and then the job for the public without much attention. And interestingly enough, there are more volunteer agencies than paid agencies in the state if my memory servces me correctly. Bless you all.

I recently bumped into a long time friend that I hadn’t seen for a while. We eventually started discussing politics. She said, she didn’t realize Senator Clinton suspended her campaign. She thought the news made it seem like it was completely over for her. She then proceded to say, she didn’t like Obama, but couldn’t pin point exactly, why. Even though, she was disappointed with him, she had plans to vote democratic. I informed her of “just say no deal” coalitions and I could not vote for BO . I explained why to some degree, but I offered to send her more info. She was interested, so I compiled all the youtube footage that showed everything from BO’s dirty Chicago politics, his radical acquaintences, sexism in the media, to Harold Ickes at the RBC. I spoke to her the next day and she told me she went to bed so angry and couldn’t sleep all night. She now will not vote for BO and is forwarding all the clips to her friends.

Is there away to mass e-mail these youtube clips?

Like my friend, there are many who work 9 to 5, have a busy home life and get there news from sound bites.

Have you all seen this article? It has quotes from these Senators that are appalling!

http://tinyurl.com/6o7d5l

I about flipped when I read it. Here’s the response I posted at the ABC site:

Let me make sure I understand this article…These female Democratic SENATORS came together at the former home of suffragette Alice Paul after we have sat though a year of misogynistic bashing of the first viable female candidate for President and they talked about macaroni and cheese, lipstick, and tankinis…

NOT ACCEPTABLE! Not one word of protest about the year and a half of misogynistic bashing Hillary Clinton was subjected to, or the sexist remarks now made about her female supporters. Instead you straightened your shoulder pads and talked about checklists with summer camp and donuts.

Well, I have a checklist too -1. Not vote for BO
2. Don’t give a dime to the DNC
3. Post your contact emails and your quotes from this article all over the internet, so we can tell you how we feel about your comments.

SO THANK YOU for the email list!!!

#153 go_Ohio_Lady on 06.18.08 at 9:21 pm

Good evening Pumas.

I just wanted to clarify that I did not pick the video, although it is great. I compiled the Senators names and contact list. The video is to let the Senators know that no matter what they say in their “Checklist For Change” we are not buying it. Too little, too late! We will fight for Hillary and our beliefs, we are not giving up and falling inline with Obama.

#154 wontbackdown on 06.18.08 at 9:22 pm

#139 bluesgal… weeeeelllll, what did Donna Collins say to you in that email?

#155 decstl on 06.18.08 at 9:22 pm

People, I really wish I believed Americans looked into the background of their candidates enough to make a rational decision about the candidates. Unfortunately I don’t believe that at all. I have watched too many of Obama’s supporters who can’t even tell me something that he has accomplished. I honestly believe it is quite possible that Obama will be elected. That really scares me. From recent polls, it doesn’t seem to scare most Americans though.

I am not saying Larry Sinclair is truthful and honest, but I do find it strange that he was arrested today when he has the press conference. Why wasn’t he arrested before now if these charges have been outstanding.

I am rapidly losing faith in our political system. It is starting to seem more and more that the elections are fixed by each party. I have no faith in either political party. I truly believed in Hillary, but it bothers me that she is now supporting Obama considering all of his questionable associations. If I had those same associations I couldn’t even get hired as a teacher. He sure wouldn’t pass the muster to be in the CIA or FBI. Why do we accept less of a presidential candidate?

#156 nightsky on 06.18.08 at 9:23 pm

It really ticks me off when the MSM says they can’t understand our lack of support for Obama because his platform is the same as Hillary’s. They don’t get it!!! It is Hillary’s and Obama took it. I hated the fact that he always got to answer questions in the debates second. He always copied Hillary. Doesn’t anyone but us see this?

As one blogger on Bitterpoliticz said : “In what universe does the correct response to a protest of sexism and the dismantling of voting rights = female senators holding up their unity pom-poms and putting out a parade of gender stereotypes to reduce our concerns as voters to…macaroni and effin cheese?”

#162 queen81 on 06.18.08 at 9:26 pm

Good evening fellow pioneers!

With regard to sending letters to Senators who are not from your state…if the web site requires zip code just google a zip code from any city in that state and it will let you email.

Also if you are concerned about being discounted because you are not from their state, it would be, in my opinion, appropriate to add that although you do not reside in their state that their title is “United States Senator” and you as a citizen of the United States have every right to be heard by them.

I have always been a Hillary supporter and contributed the maximum I could during the primary season. I am not saying I think he might be elected because I want it. I am saying it because I don’t see people other than at sites like this who really take the time stop and look at the resumes of the candidate. If they did, Hillary would be the nominee right now.

#169 Firebelle Puma on 06.18.08 at 9:31 pm

Mayor1012, thanks for your support.

Roughly two thirds of our nation’s firefighters are volunteers. It’s a statistic that took me by surprise when I first heard it, because the area where I live is protected primarily by career firefighters. I was at a big conference years ago, and I introduced myself to someone by saying that I was “just” a volunteer firefighter. He put me in my place by reminding me how important volunteer firefighters are nationwide.

Speaking of which, that’s one thing I really liked about Hillary. She often spoke up for emergency responders and the need to ensure they have the resources they need to protect our nation.

Maryland PUMA, you’re darn right about my not getting much work done. This blog is often too much of a distraction. But getting the right person in the White House is too important to ignore it.

#170 Dhyan on 06.18.08 at 9:31 pm

It’s over. The women in Congress joined the men and kept silent about the abuse Hillary was receiving. Many raised their voices (even Hillary) to defend Obama when Bush attacked Obama, but nobody said a word to defend Hillary from sexist remarks. I’m done with the Democrats, and until Dean and his minions are out of the leadership, the Democratic candidates will not get my vote or dollars. Finito, kaput, the end.

You can check it out at noquarterusa.net. Those remarks are making it around the world now, we will be the absolute laughing stock of the universe. Believe me, you’re not alone! Even my elderly mother who never gave a hoot about politics commented on it and was annoyed and indignant!

The clincher for me was when he gave his imitation Abraham Lincoln speech. I said to myself, “Oh this is just too much….”

#200 headoverhills on 06.18.08 at 9:46 pm

DawnE – I really like Boxer too – and sad as it is, I know that it was difficult for both her AND Feinstein today. Both were strong Hillary supporters (Boxer’s daughter was married to Hillary’s brother during the 1990s), so I am sure they agonized over the decision. It’s so sad to watch it happen – especially from women who were outspoken in their support of Hillary’s campaign.

#34 I think it’s still worth a try to send mail. As a general rule, we accept US postal mail from anyone and everyone (provided it passes the anthrax & xray tests), but like Ladyhawke said, they are more responsive to those in their district or state. Having said that, many of these Senators are on committees that cover a wide range of issues for all Americans. That applies to US Postal mail. As far as e-mail goes, most members of both the House and Senate try to limit email to those who reside within their district by requesting a zipcode at the profile.

#201 Maryland PUMA on 06.18.08 at 9:46 pm

Being new here, I know I am really gonna be sticking my neck out with this post, but as someone who’s been around and seen it before, here goes…

All this talk about “trolls” bothers me. Not everyone who posts something out of the mainstream is a troll. This is the post that got me banned by Maha from the Mahablog:

#begin

Methinks thou doth protest too much!

I see nothing coming from the Hillary camp that isn’t more than reciprocated from the Obama camp. Everyone is just citing whatever makes them feel good about their decision and bashing the other guy. The few voices of reason are usually attacked without mercy. In other words, a typical political contest.

The posts here, by moonbat, wmr, etc. seem much more reasonable than most. A good sign.

Put me in the camp with moonbat and wmr, I think their points are on the mark and well made.

Comment by Bron — February 18, 2008 @ 4:58 pm
#end

( Here’s the link to the Mahablog thread: http://www.mahablog.com/2008/02/18/the-stench-of-desperation/#comments )

Can anyone here see the offense in it? Well, there were two, 1) defending the Hillary camp and 2) saying the posts by moonbat and others who were only mildly favorable to HRC were more reasonable than most.

For these two offenses Maha banned me. Why, because I was not of the same opinion as her and the multitude of others on the thread adoring Obama. This has happened to me on other blogs as well. If you post much, it will probably happen to you, too, sooner or later.

So, please, whomever you think is a troll – be sure you are being fair and not over-reacting, (And I’m not referring to the dumb link to the photo on the thread last night. Sure, ditch jerks like that.)

Anyway…just a wee post in favor of free speech. ;)

It is like people are all on automatic control and aren’t thinking at all. Ok! I sent the E-mails. I do like to see these women Senators with their own agenda. I will vote for Cantwell and Murray as they are my Senators and they supported Hillary but I am voting for McCain. I will not vote for BO no matter who is his running mate.

I can’t see Hillary wanting to be VP. First of all I think BO will lose and when he does they will look for a woman to blame for their failure. After the liberal men who are in charge of the party fail to elect a President AGAIN there will be a major purge and the party will need to Clintons for leadership. I also suspect that we won’t be seeing Gore again.

Don’t lose hope over these polls. You know they have used fake polls all through this political season and the Media are right in line with the BO people, broadcasting every lie.

This may lighten up some of the converation here. My nephew is a “questionable” *61 supporter. He started a converation with a young lady during his lunch break. They started talking about politics and who each were supporting yadeyadeyade…anywho, they made plans to meet later. He goes to her place and they continue the conversation and talk about the movie that they were going to see. He told me that she had this poster of *61 –”The Hope” poster–the one were his is looking to his left and upward–over her bar. Candle were lit on both sides. He told me it was creepy. But that was not the jest of the whole thing—they were about to leave and she asked him …are you ready?….are you sure you are ready?….she asked him “got some marijuana, wanna share before we go?” He just looked at her and told her that he better go. AND then he told her as he left, if you light up, don’t forget you have those candles lit. I told him good for you!

Not to worry. It is still early. If you look at the “solid” column, as apposed to the “leaning” column, BO and JM are pretty much tied with “Toss Up” at 90. BO has about double the “leanings” that JM has at the moment, but a lot can happen in the next few months….I think advantage goes to JM. BO is going to get a lot of scrutiny in the next months, even if MSM is reluctant to do, individuals aren’t…..and word of mouth is a powerful thing.

Yesterday I saw a clip on YouTube in which somebody said that if you vote against BHO you are considered to be racist. THIS IS A NIGHTMARE!!!

Also, if you are one of the people going to Denver, get some kind of protection. According to this article

Denver police is buying guns which will use pepper spray to prevent us from holding a protest. Please be careful or maybe even stay home.

This is June and it is a long way to November. Those numbers are going to flip and flop alot. If you look on at the “Solid” numbers on the site you are concerned about, you will see that the difference is not significant.

There is alot of hyp about the statistics tossed around. I’m good with numbers and I still have trouble telling what is real. I do know that numbers can lie. Look at the Democratic Nomination!

I have been enjoying myself taking action on a situation that bothers me. I chuckeled all the way to the mailbox today. Win, lose or draw, I need to know that I have done everything I can to get this country a President that is capable of getting us out of this mess with any kind of decency.

Also remeber that the GOP are not going to go after BO 100% until after Clinton is out of the picture. She is the one they are afraid of. They know BO is an empty suit puppet and I’m sure they will hold some of his strings. The only loser will be the America People.

I personally like the Serenity Prayer.

Let’s stay focused. I have said for months that Hillary is a smart lady and she knows we are out there fighting for her. I am positive Hillary is being pressured and I know Obama must be paying these delegates off or threatning them with their careers. So lets continue doing what we are doing and hopefully Obama will trip himself up. With him it is dirty politics and I bet even Gore got strong armed. So let’s stay positive and get our message out. I still think we should have Puma reps talk on small town news stations. When I did calling for Hillary many people did not have access to computers and the news was their only source of information. Also many people honestly think Hillary conceded.

Bron (#217), I share your concern about talk of “trolls.” We often have visitors who are still undecided. That doesn’t make them bad or wrong. And there’s nothing wrong with voicing different opinions.

Once upon a time, I considered Obama a viable candidate. But my only exposure to him had been a couple of debates early in 2008. The more I saw of him and the more I listened to him, the more I realized I didn’t like him or trust him.

Once upon a time, I was willing to follow Hillary’s lead and vote for Obama if she asked us to. I didn’t like or trust McCain either, and I disagreed with many of his positions on key issues. It took a while before I saw that McCain was a better choice than Obama.

However, these realizations didn’t come from being called a “troll,” which did happen to me at Hillary’s blog. It didn’t come from reading the emotional posts. It came from more rational exchanges, such as the posts about McCain’s position on Roe v. Wade, a key issue for me.

It also came from watching Obama’s behavior. His refusal to debate Hillary when voters still wanted to hear debates was dismissive. Now he’s playing the same game with McCain. A candidate who refuses to debate in front of voters who want to hear both candidates talk about the issues is dismissive of all Americans. It tells me that he won’t care about anyone or anything that doesn’t serve his immediate interests. This is not a man I want as our President.

I think we should welcome Obama supporters who might be open-minded enough to listen to our concerns and our passionate belief that Hillary is a better candidate. Some will come to recognize the wisdom of our words if we don’t turn them away by calling them “trolls” or being impolite.

I have to agree with Bron when he or she said we should watch it when labeling someone a troll. I definitely am not one. I was just venting and saying I don’t understand why no one seems to be holding Obama responsible for anything he does or says. It scares me that people might vote for him and not even realize what he stands for. After all, remember how we got 8 years of George Bush.

MURPHY IF THIS IS NOT THE RIGHT THING TO DO, PLEASE DELETE IT- am posting it here because it said it was an open letter – there are still some good guys out there and Steven Grossman is one of them. Below is his open letter he sent to Flores [you can read them, reply to them, etc]:

Open Letter (Steven Grossman Frmr. Natl. Chairman, DNC)
An Open Letter to Democratic Party Super Delegates From Steven Grossman, Former National Chairman, Democratic National Committee

Like many Democratic activists and officials honored to have been selected as so-called super delegates to this year’s Democratic national convention, I’ve spent most of my life engaged in the fight for the values that the Democratic party embodies. These values were perhaps best articulated by President Franklin D. Roosevelt in his second inaugural address: “The test of our progress is not whether we add more to the abundance of those who have much; it is whether we provide enough for those who have too little.”

Like some of my colleagues, my commitment to the Democratic party and my passion for its most cherished principles can fairly be said to be part of my DNA. In my own case, my grandfather, father, uncle and I were all given the opportunity to serve as delegates to Democratic national conventions over the last 60 years. Indeed, my grandfather and father comprised the only “father-son” team among the delegates to the 1948 convention in Philadelphia that chose Harry Truman as the party’s standard bearer. Given that family history, it will be understood how proud I was to serve first as Chairman of the Massachusetts Democratic Party and then as Chairman of the Democratic National Committee.

Some commentators, observing the current deadlock between Senators Clinton and Obama as they vie for the Democratic presidential nomination, have suggested that as super delegates, our function is to be mindless tabulators of primaries and caucuses won, or popular votes amassed. Despite the super delegates’ lifetimes spent working on state, national and international issues, and thinking seriously about the grave challenges, and the dangerous adversaries, facing our country, these commentators demand that we suspend our independent judgments and jettison our profound responsibilities–to the party and, frankly, to the country itself. Even though the very party rules that provide for super delegates contemplated that we would exercise those independent judgments and fulfill those responsibilities, there are those who believe that we should confine ourselves to adding up numbers.

But super delegates were not selected by the national party to be either potted plants or rubber stamps. We were selected because under party rules that have been in place for a generation, our party concluded that we had demonstrated the ability to act as stewards of the national party–and of the national interest. By dint of our experience in the community and our public service, we were adjudged fit to fulfill a moral responsibility to act in the best interest of the country as we saw it–and to be strong enough to withstand the criticisms of those who might object to the political impact of the independent conclusions we reached.

Our duty to our party and our country is a fiduciary one, a sacred trust. We are obliged to regard ourselves in a real sense as trustees, charged with making conscientious judgments on behalf of the party but, more importantly, the country we care, and worry, about.

Any dispassionate analysis of the current nomination fight shows that Senators Clinton and Obama are breathtakingly close in terms of delegates won and popular vote recorded. It is likely that after the remaining primaries and caucuses have been held, the already narrow gap in delegates will shrink yet further, and the equally slim gap in popular vote will also close, with Senator Clinton having a meaningful chance to overtake Senator Obama’s popular vote total altogether, particularly when the collective will of Florida’s and Michigan’s primary voters is finally taken into account. At a minimum, the nomination process must be permitted to run its full course, so that not only are the candidates’ qualifications, character and positions fully vetted, but everyone who is entitled to vote is actually permitted to do so.

This means that, in the first instance, those super delegates who have not made up their minds or who have decided to remain neutral until all the votes have been cast should resist the pressure to abort the process. We are, after all, electing not a student council president but the President of the United States of America, the leader of the free world and, in real terms, the most powerful person on the planet. There is no amount of prudence and care which can possibly be excessive, under the circumstances.

But what happens after the final primaries are over in early June, when by most analyses neither Senator Clinton nor Senator Obama will have enough pledged delegates to secure the nomination? If the role of super delegates is merely to assess primary and caucus results, how do they wade through the thicket created by the important questions that those results have generated?

Should caucuses, in which citizens who wish to express their choice are obliged to either show up at an appointed hour and sit in a room for up to several hours or not show up at all, be regarded as reflecting the popular will as much as primaries, where voters whose lives do not permit them to spend three hours in a locked room at the end of a workday can simply go into their local elementary school, vote and leave–like voters across the country do on the first Tuesday in November?

Should the results in states that have rarely if ever voted Democratic in a presidential election over the last half century be accorded the same weight as the results in large states that form the heart of the Democratic base, and which the Democratic presidential nominee must carry in order to win the White House?

Should primaries in which voters who are not in fact members of the Democratic party voted in significant numbers be given the same standing for the purpose of choosing the Democratic party nominee as those in which only Democrats voted?

These are difficult questions, if not impossible ones, and super delegates who see their duty as mere numbers crunchers will have a difficult time sorting out the answers.

But being a super delegate is not the same as being a numbers cruncher. It is about consulting one’s conscience about what is best for the United States, and about the party that we hope will assume the leadership of the United States.

I have made my own personal judgment, and that is that Senator Clinton is the better qualified, more experienced and by far the more battle-tested Democrat to lead this country in a world that is increasingly dangerous, and where the stakes simply could not be higher. Others have made a different choice, and may yet make a different choice. But for the moment, super delegates who are not committed to either candidate should resist the blandishments of those who would trivialize their roles in the nominating process, and their responsibilities to the party, and to the country, about which we care so deeply.

Best personal regards,

Steve

Please know that those Hillary Republicans are concerned that our country is being taken away in a coup by the Obama/DNC/RBC group.I am of an age that I could either live through a change in our government to a dictatorship or I would die early; but, my little two year old great-grandson would have to live in this country as Obama molds it. I have never campaigned for anyone in my lifetime; and I became one of Hillary’s best workers.
My Daddy, a WWII underage Cannoneer under General Douglas MacArthur has to be turning over in his grave at what grave peril our nation is in right now. Elections stolen in 2000 and nominations stolen in 2008. I am glad he is not alive to see it; and he is one of those brave men who fought to keep us free!!!!
Please put forth a concerted effort to place Hillary Clinton as the Democratic nominee in August. Reject the SELECTED. Respect the ELECTED. Our hearts and souls are in the hands of a few souls that are going to have to bear up and take on Goliath to keep our country free for my little great-grandson. I thank you. my children thank you, my grandchild thanks you, and my great-grandson thanks you.

#257 Anonymous. McCain is not going to go after BO right now because Clinton could easily step in his place if it became apparent the BO just could not win. If he becomes the official candidate, they are stuck and will have to just lose.

Hi My Friends,

Since I originally posted this hours ago, I’ll put it up again.

I heard that too and it scared the ….out of me. LOL. But then I read an article somewhere, an interview with a docter who said that was bunk. One of those Internet myths that gets passed around. He said if the govt really had a weapon like that you’d have heard about it before. In all the other huge demonstrations, even the ones that got quite out of hand, the police didn’t have anything like that. He said that sometimes police depts use noise machines that if you hear it for an extended time can make you sick, i.e. upset stomach, something like that, there’s really nothing that fits the description you’re referring to.

Thank you. Yes, Firebelle’s post made me feel a little bit better. The reason why I am so worried and have been during this election is because I lived through so called “Revolution” in USSR in 1991. I was 10.5 years old, but I’ll never forget how I saw all of the fighting and police hitting people and all of the blood on Red Square. THAT is the major reason why I am so afraid of everything. It will 17 years since that in August, but it is something that will stay with me forever.

When I first read the story about Denver Police getting ready to shoot guns at us, I thought that they would start shooting pepper spray at us as we would be APPROACHING convention site. Thank you for your support. :)

#279 BrooklynNY–Rush later in his program pretty much repeated what you said. He was just reading info that was sent to him and his staffers investigated. Said that whatever this was made you nauseous and that the waves/sounds/whatever had to be consistently re-aimed at “targets.” I just thought that it was the funniest thing I heard and if it didn’t exist, someone will be trying to make one. LOL

#44 BrooklynNY No I missed it.

O’Reilly is from Gloucester Mass and I know that area well. My aunt and uncle lived there.

You are from Brooklyn and I know that area as well.

I called Hillary Clinton’s campaign office once and one of her volunteers recognized the ethnicity of my last name. It is always 6 degrees of separation.

O’Reilly needs our support. He has not endorsed anyone yet but he goes against Kerry and right now that is good enough for me.

and, glad to know (i guess?) that you were referring to superdelegates, not national delegates, in terms of the DNC ‘going after them.’ It’s still bad to pressure the superd’s, but heck, the DNC would be particularly foolish to go anywhere near trying to strong-arm the national delegates.

I just don’t want it to seem that we are emailing the senators and saying we agree it is over for Hillary. WE NEED TO STRESS THAT IS IS NOT OVER UNTIL THE LADY IN THE PANTSUIT SAYS IT’S OVER.]]

That was my take on the song also. A VERY BAD CHOICE OF WORDING if you ask me and self defeating of purpose. Suppose they just click open the YouTube and just listen to the song without reading your typed out words. My gosh people, don’t you think anything through before you foolishly do something. At least don’t just follow along like blind sheep.

Sorry for the vent, but I just had to speak up on this one. It is just as bad as suggesting that people send in their real checks without *first* giving them advice on the do’s and don’ts.

Bron (#290), I’m not voting for McCain as much as I’m voting against Obama.

I just can’t believe that Obama spent 20 years listening to the hateful, poisonous teachings of Reverend Wright without embracing those beliefs. It’s all too common in human nature to embrace the beliefs of those around us when we want to fit in or belong.

However, it’s Obama’s dismissive nature that finally pushed me over the edge. I saw the same thing in Bush eight years ago, and I knew he would be bad for our country. It was just a gut feeling, not one based on a full understanding of the issues. But time proved me right. When I finally saw the resemblance to my experience eight years ago, I knew I couldn’t vote for Obama, no matter how I much I might disagree with McCain on some of the issues.

Obama’s refusal to do weekly debates with McCain is very telling. How many times during the primary did he say “I welcome that debate with John McCain”? So, where is he now? Is he just too afraid to debate McCain? Or is he not a man of his word? (Both, I suspect.) How many times has he insisted he’s someone who will reach across the aisle? He can’t even reach out to accept McCain’s invitation. Wasn’t Obama the one who said he wanted to meet weekly with Congress? In case it escapes him, McCain is a member of Congress. Why won’t Obama meet with him weekly now?

I don’t listen only to what people say. I listen to their actions. Obama’s actions are very telling.

I always like Johnny Mathis’s ‘Chances Are’ and “The Twelfth of Never”
I am from Washington State and this is what I just sent to our Senators, Patty Murray and Maria Cantwell:
The DNC has broken it’s own rules and disenfranchised millions of loyal voters. I voted for you in your own election, but because of your request today, to support Obama in the coming election, I will not vote for you again. Where was your voice when Hillary needed it most? Probably the same place my voice will be when you need me.
The same goes for Maria Cantwell.
When I see the DNC take delgates from Clinton and give them to Obama, in Michigan where he wasn’t even registered, and give HALF-votes to those voters in Michigan and florida, I realize there is nothing left of the Democratic Party I so wholeheartedly supported.
As I learned so well in 2000 and again in 2004, Americans can be manipulated and our votes matter only to us.
The first laugh I’ve had since Hillary’s Concession Speech was an email request from Obama for me to donate to his campaign and to the DNC. The second laugh was learning of your request that I support Obama for President.
Laughed because I live in a complex for senior citizens where we are all TERRIFIED of an America under Obama’s inexperienced direction.
But, it’s really not funny. He barely conceals his anger and racism, and his wife for some reason apparently needs a ‘political make-over’. I guess it’s because on the surface, she is who she is and not to be trusted either.
And now, sadly, you have become one of “them”.
Make no mistake— I wont send one penny to support the DNC, you, or Obama and I will NEVER, ever vote for Obama.
Evidently you have sold out and become of of those who “go along to get along”. I suspect you do it more for the money and power than for any ‘principles’ and you might want to think about another line of work. People here in Washington are not very happy with you.

#323 ShortTermer on 06.18.08 at 11:11 pm

Knoxville Puma, good to see you here. As late as I stay up I don’t get up in time to see early posts when they happen, so I have to play catchup all day. Will e you.

#324 murphy on 06.18.08 at 11:11 pm

Shorttermer and others — the troll policy in these forums has not changed one bit. Trolls are always banned. If a comment slips in by accident it will be deleted as soon as it’s brought to my attention. Anyone who insults Puma PAC members because of our goals, our “persons,” our opinions, or our plans to Protest the Election will be swiftly reminded and then deleted if they step a toe over that line.
In addition to NO TROLLS, these forums are closed to those who want to discuss or defend the legitimacy of Barack Obama’s candidacy. For Puma PAC, the time for talking is LONG GONE. the primaries are over. Clinton was swindled and treated disgracefully. We’re not interested in any more discussion with Obama supporters. It’s a big internet — they can start their own blogs and maybe we’ll visit so they can lecture, condescend, bully, and insult us. Sounds like fun!

The only trolls allowed on this site are the ones we release from captivity as late-night snacks for the cats.

#325 Seattlegirl on 06.18.08 at 11:12 pm

I have started getting replies back to my E-mails to the women Senators. Sure some of them are addressed to “Out of State” but someone reads and tallys those too. I think this is a great way to let them hear from PUMAs.

#326 Firebelle Puma on 06.18.08 at 11:12 pm

ShortTermer (#294), I prefer to differentiate between the troublemakers and the people who are open-minded enough to check things out. Again, there was a time when I was called a “troll” because I hadn’t yet made up my mind and was airing a few thoughts.

I don’t welcome the troublemakers anymore than I welcome the squabbling among Hillary supporters. But I welcome people who want to ask intelligent, important questions and get feedback on their own thoughts. There was a time not that long ago when I shied away from McCain, afraid he could overturn Roe v. Wade. Had I and others not had this forum to raise our concerns, we wouldn’t have had gotten our questions answered.

#327 Bron on 06.18.08 at 11:12 pm

#294 ShortTermer on 06.18.08 at 10:51 pm

But who decides who’s a troll? Do we vote? Of course, sometimes it is very obvious. But sometimes it’s not at all. I’ve seen many innocent people (in my opinion) called trolls merely because someone disagreed with them. Has happened to me more than once. Especially on political blogs where everyone is so passionate.

I agree you should not let anyone become disruptive and, as I said, if someone is just picking fights and being obnoxious, then be my guest. Just give people the benefit of the doubt is all I’m asking.

Liked your letter, btw.

[[Any good news lately? As you know I do not watch the news anymore now that Hillary is out.

Is there still a chance for Hillary?? Please say there is….]]

There is always a chance. What frustrates me the most is the anticipation to see what she will do next. Is she going to buckle under party pressure and give an official concession as the party wants her to do; or is she going to hold out until the Credentials Committee and the August Convention.

Hillary is a fighter, but my guess is that she still wants her place in the Party. So like it or not, she is playing ball.

Thing is… and I truly believe this:– She wants the FINAL record to show what she accomplished. And that means getting the real totals of popular vote and delegate count ON RECORD at the Convention. So even if she does not become the Party’s nominee she, or we could say we might just be setting up a network for her come the next election cycle.

I have no idea if anyone in her campaign reads her email, … but when I was donating I would get in emails from just about everyone at the following address

Thank you, Murphy. If it becomes troll infested, I will have to find another home.
For those of you asking how does one spot a troll. It used to be obvious because of their spewing hatred and vulgarities. But, recently, because of “cut and paste” talking points and blanket message that the Obamabots work from, it is harder to tell. They are pretty articulate and use better writing skills; but their propaganda tactics always seem to follow the same order in the same outline. Read enough posts and you will probably spot them as well. They seem to have one tactic that goes global; for a while it was Roe vs Wade and saying that McCain was to take away our reproductive rights. They are getting better at the propaganda, but they are also getting very tiring. They take up time and effort from the true believers and distract. Time is of the essence, we do not have time to educate these trolls.

Anonymous (#283), I’m glad that I could ease your concerns a little, and I’m sorry about what you experienced as a child.

Believe me, Denver police don’t want confrontations anymore than we do. I didn’t say it earlier, but for all our bravado, emergency responders get scared too. Scariest of all is the human element. I pretty much know how fire is going to behave, so I stand a reasonable chance of being safe against that enemy. I don’t necessarily know how people are going to behave in a potential riot situation. So the potential for getting hurt is much greater.

I can’t speak for the Denver police. I can’t even really speak for the police around here. But as I said earlier, their number one priority is going home safely to their families. If you try to put yourselves in their place and see the situation from their point of view, you’ll probably feel better about their role and their preparedness efforts.

Baracko over McCain…pulling levers…writing things in…not a contest with me. I don’t vote party and never have. I vote who is presented to ME by THAT party. I do my homework/research on their positions. If it is for the good of me and the people ( hope that doesn’t sound selfish ) that is who I choose to represent me, my neighbor, my city, my county, my state, my country. Anyone having guilt, who is a Democrat, do your homework. You have nothing to feel guilty or “un-easy” about.

I approved of Bill Clinton and his policies and feel that Hillary is such an experienced person to have as our President. Like I said earlier, I plan on donating to his campaign. :) Hope he wins.

That would teach Kerry, for one thing, not to go out on national television and disparage a genuine, decent and honorable man like McCain, insinuating that he’s going senile and losing his marbles. I was so disgusted with Kerry when I saw that I want to smear his face with dog pooh. :)

I just e-mailed Senator Milkulski to state that I continue to support Senator Clinton and will not vote for Obama, the unqualified and illegitimate candidate installed by the rogue DNC. However, I was not too hard on her because she was one of Hillary’s national campaign Chairpersons. She did not jump ship on Hillary like a lot of SDs did. Senator Milkulski is the longest serving woman in the Senate. If anyone has experienced sexism, she has. A lot of nasty gender-biased comments have been made about her over the decades, but like Hillary, Babs Milkulski is one tough cookie who knows how to roll with the punches. Just sent this via online form to,
http://www.hillaryclinton.com/help/contact/
Using the *suggestion* pull down window

*********************
Dear Hillary,

I am one of your supporters and have been for years, even prior to this campaign season. I am writing this short note, to tell you that there are many of us, who are not falling in line and will not, can not support Senator Obama as the democratic nominee.

So let me just quote a quote,

Never give up. Never give in. And when you’re down, get yourself up and KEEP ON FIGHTING… not just for yourself or for us as individuals but for our country because your country still needs you. Perhaps now, more than ever.

I have no idea if anyone is reading this online form or not, but if you are; just know that there are many forming web site networks and blogs. One such site is called, PUMA PAC and another is called JUSTSAYNODEAL.

We are still with you 100% and there is nothing Mr Obama can say to change our minds. So if the party is pressuring you to control your people or to get them to switch over… it ain’t a gonna happen. Not in 18 million years it will not.

So here is my suggestion to you,
TAKE IT TO THE CONVENTION!

With the deepest respect and love for you,
Kathleen [last name]

ShortTermer (#328), I’ve found some (albeit limited) value in responding to the talking points from Obama supporters. It’s helped me articulate my beliefs more clearly.

By the way, three of my closest friends are Republicans. All have gained more respect for Hillary during our discussions over the last few months. And all are coming to the same realizations I have about Obama. One by one, they’re starting to describe him as “scary,” just as I have. These friends are much more knowledgeable than I am about politics, so it’s rewarding to see them come to the same conclusions I came to largely by gut feel.

#359 Barbara4Hill on 06.18.08 at 11:33 pm

Can anyone tell me if there is a safe site to donate money for Hillary’s debt and hopefully her expenses so she can unsuspend her campaign ? Sorry for the spelling errors as it is late. I do not want any of my money that is meant for Hillary going to Obama.

Thank you so much for sharing that post with us. I can’t tell you how encouraging it was to read such a beautifully expressed, articulate letter from someone who still takes his responsibilities to his country seriously. He is a true gem. His words brought tears to my eyes, as did yours when you explained why you became active in this election this year. Again, I thank you so much for sharing that post with us.

Well, gist of that comment was 4 of them bounced back.

This is a much shoter version.

#363 yve on 06.18.08 at 11:37 pm

Well I posted my letters

Senator
This is in regard to your attempt to get us to support your nominee, Obama. This presumptive nominee was not elected by the people but selected by you and your colleagues against the will of the people.
Where was your voice when Senator Clinton was being shredded apart by the media and her own Party?
It’s too late for words now. This loyal Democrat will be voting Republican this time around.

#267 I donated last night to Clinton’s campaign on her own website. She had sent an e-mail out to her supporters and it had a “contribute” button. It linked to the contribution page on her website. For a while after Obama stage his coup, it was not on her site unless you signed up again. Now, you can skip and go to her website. The blog page still exists, but no one is commenting.

Barbara4Hill, I had similar problems with trying to join this site. With Maryland PUMA’s encouragement, I finally got an email address at gmail.com. Only then was I able to get registered.

For some reason, I wasn’t able to use my regular email address. I even tried registering directly at WordPress. I got a password, and everything seemed fine. But I still couldn’t log on here. I can’t explain it, but that’s my story.

anonymous, I am curious you wrote anonymous=brain dead. I think you are very much alive if you support Hillary.

#369 queen81 on 06.18.08 at 11:41 pm

Just emailed Rep John Spratt…he is a congressman and superdelagate here in South Carolina…hoping to get a good response. I attended college in his district and am very close with a family in his district that he has known for years. hoping the name dropping will get his attention. he recently went from uncommitted to Obama…we’ll see.

As far as who we will vote for in Nov, that’s a very personal decision and I don’t have any right to tell anyone how to vote. I think we all know who we won’t vote for.

Personally, for me staying home or voting third party makes me feel like i’m giving the election to Obama. As a pro-choice lesbian I have certainly had to wrestle with my decision. I think a lot of you saw my post on Roe v. wade last night so I’m not concerned with that and I have comfortably concluded that If Hillary is not the nominee I will vote for John McCain. I support all my fellow PUMAS in whatever decision they make for themselves.

#370 TrishfromCanada on 06.18.08 at 11:41 pm

#362 bythelake

4 of mine bounced back also, but the other 6 must have made it through, I received 4 autoresponses saying they will be read but slowly, ok not exactly those words, I’m paraphrasing. and two responses were from a real person saying they would forward the message to the Senator.

In marketing this is a great response.. 60% acknowledgement, 20% response, I understand anything above a 10% response is very good, even when there is a small sampling.

On the topic of sexism: Yes it was there, mostly from the media as well as from the BHO supporters. And yes, it was even at play when Mrs O. first took the stage and slammed Hillary in the rudest of ways telling her she could not run her own house. All true…

But,

The thing that has bothered me the most about this campaign season was the fact that HER OWN PARTY was trying to push her out of the race ever since she won Texas and Ohio. And this they did to a candidate that was in a virtual tie. IOW, she was no Mike Huckabee and still they were trying to force her out.

THAT’S WHY I AM SO ANGRY!

They never would have done that if she were a man. Never! They would have waited till mid June and did not.

I am one of the 18 million voters who voted Hillary in as the DNC nominee for president. Obama stole this nomination and I will never vote for him. I am actively working to see Obama and any Democrat who supported Obama in this travesty lose in the November election.

I am a 53-year-old progressive socialist and a physician who has worked actively and hard for the Democratic Party since before I could vote. No more. I have waited too long to see this party support a woman for president.

If you support this lying, hypocritical sycophant, then I consider you to be someone I will vote against in every election you run in.

And, just in case you think I’m just angry and I’ll forget it when the time comes – you should know that I and millions of others who felt the same way left the organization NOW when they tried to force their choice down our throats, I wrote in Shirley Chisholm when the DNC let her down, I stood in the freezing cold to get signatures for the ERA in Missouri, I spent my own money to fly to Denver and support John Kerry – only to have him quit at the first sign of trouble, and now I will stand with millions of others who resist having our voices drowned out by the machinations of a flip-flopping tyro who only desires to win the presidency without having any ability to BE president.

I will not see my dreams of progressive, social programs and REAL change endangered or destroyed by 4 years of this incompetent back-room deal maker muddling through the train-wreck of a financial crisis looming down upon us. We need someone who can actually appreciate what it takes to get through this mess and make in one piece to the other side. Someone like Hillary.

And, NO, IT ISN’T TOO LATE TO STAND UP FOR THE TRUE NOMINEE OF THE DNC AND HONOR THE WILL OF THE GREATER THAN 18 MILLION MAJORITY VOTERS WHO CHOOSE HER AS OUR STANDARD BEARER. In fact, it’s actually time for you and women like you who were voted in by women like me to take responsibility for recovering the honor and integrity of this party.

There are millions of us gathering for the coming fight in Denver. My husband and I are only two of them -proud PUMA Pac members. We will not forget to –

REMEMBER IN NOVEMBER!

Thank you. Fire fighters came to my house to save me and my family many times. They came when my grandfather was sick shortly after his bypass surgery; when I was 25 weeks pregnant and thought that I was in labor; when my 1 month old son (just home from the hospital after 2 surgeries–1 to fix the damage to the heart and expand aorta, the other to put in the pacemaker) turned pale for some reason–Thanks God he is okay. #338 ShortTermer on 06.18.08 at 11:19 pm & Firebelle,

I understand your point Firebelle regarding trolls. Sometimes it is good for both sides to debate the choices. When people are sincere and really want to have serious conversation I don’t mind it either. I welcome it, in fact. But that is not what happens with trolls. My experiences have been the same as what ShortTermer describes. The cut and pasting, the talking points. They come in, play on your sense of decency, then start instigating mischief. It happens everytime. I find it a very disturbing, unpleasant experience and would probably leave this site too if it abandoned the troll-free policy.

I have many Republican friends also. Could never understand how they could be Republican. But this year it was very interesting. My most ardent Republican friend said she liked Hillary, couldn’t stand Obama and could even see herself voting for Hillary. Believe me THAT was a shock to hear! She said she hoped Obama won the D primary because she thought he’d be easier for the R’s to beat.

And the weird thing was I told her if Obama won, I had absolutely NO problem supporting McCain! It was a surreal moment. I can’t tell you the long, involved discussions we’ve had in past elections. You would have NEVER budged me off the Democratic bandwagon and you would have had to pry her off the R bandwagon with a crowbar! It was almost too surreal to believe how different things were this year. I guess you could call it a real change. :)

[[ Just made the mistake of turning on the TV and CNN was on the channel with Cambell Brown - our favorite - they show that the no named one has the lead in Ohio, Penna and Florida ]]

I did the same thing and caught that one. Thing about CNN is, they will only show you the polls that favor BHO.

If you consult other polls, his lead over McCain is only by about 3- 6 points. That is NOT the bump he was expecting. They were looking for a 10 point lead. But Karl Rove comparing other elections said at this point in a campaign he should have gotten 15-19 points and has not.

Not all Hillary Supporters are moving over. And he’s got a HUGE problem; some media pundits say.

Hi all,

what a great feeling it is to be able to “do something, anything” to fight back.
This was a major injustice thrust upon Hillary. I can’t imagine how she must feel, and on top of all this, to support him? publicly? she must be so humiliated.

This is the letter I sent to the lady senators, now I’ll continue with my letter to the supers.

I am a Florida resident and would like to let you know that you may not insult mine and my family’s intelligence by asking us to “step in line” and supporting the DNC’s chosen nominee Sen. Barack Obama.

My husband, family and I will be very happy to vote for the gentleman Sen. McCain if Sen. Hillary Clinton is not the democratic nominee.

She is the only one who is qualified and who will actually make it past the blockade that will be set up in September and October.

Sen. Obama’s blind arrogance and aggression are not allowing him to realize this, he needs your advice to step down.

Stress is also and invitation for cancer as stress lowers our iminune system. I don’t think I can spell tonight so forgive me.

I know. It can be fun for about 5 minutes. But they always manage to pull someone into one of those bizarre, irrational conversations. I love it when they cut and paste their prepared talking points and then are forced to answer a question off the cuff. How is it possible one’s spelling and grammar candeteriorate so fast?!

What do you think? Any guess on what to expect?

#424 Goalucard4Hill on 06.19.08 at 12:21 am

I know we don’t believe in polls anyway – they have been wrong most of this primary season – wrong for Indiana, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Oregon and Montana – and then today as I reported earlier they showed the no name one ahead in Ohio, Florida and Penna – but at least with my State of Kentucky – based on a survey usa poll – McCain is ahead by 12 points and 35% of the Democrats crossed over to McCain – I really suspect this is going to become more and more of the case as we get closer to November – but I know – we don’t believe in the polls – at least I don’t.

Have a good evening – I just got back on here – did Murphy release any catnip for us tonight??

wontbackdown – I’m hoping that we will get some encouragement & hints of what might happen in August – I’m sure that she or her staff have been to all of the sites dedicated to her and have read the blogs & know what we’re all trying to do – retire her debt, keep her in the public eye, the flyers, the letters to howie & the DNC (hope she had a chuckle over that), our 1/2 chks – I know that when I sent my thank you letter to her right after the Saturday speech telling her that we had her back & to take a vacation break I enclosed money for the debt besides donating – so hopefully we will get some idea of where that’s at – just have to listen closely & read between the lines………………..

#401 Firebelle Puma on 06.19.08 at 12:01 am

I came onto Hillary’s blogging site late in the game and NONE of my blogs got through. NOT one. I was beginning to get quite a case of the blues over it. But I could read the posts and it was the next best thing. I loved getting Hillary and Bill and Chelsea (and all the others too) emails. I miss them.

Where I really got to meet trolls was on John McCain’s site. Such a shame too. The people there are so nice and fun to talk to but every night, around the same time, they’d start appearing like waves of locusts. It was all the same script, cut and pasted, the same objective. They loved to get people arguing with them and with each other….It ruined the night and the conversation. People just left or ended up annoyed. So, I’m very sensitive when it comes to trolls. I barely give them the benefit of the doubt. It’s not having different ideas than me that annoys; it’s the psychological mind games they place. Very tiresome.

I hope Hillary sucks every penny she can out of him to repay her debt, then fights it out at the convention. Without the republicans sending him their money, its become obvious his upper class supporters aren’t sharing their pay and his young supporters are just mouth pieces. Anyone who had money to give him, are all under the bus now.

Drive on Jeeves, ignore the bumps!

When I’ve been away for a while (an hour or two) and everyone is doing those “#143bron, etc”… comments and bravos, I am spinning my mouse wheel up and down as fast as I can to see what everyone is saying to each other… I feel so “snoopy” and busy-body?

But I love to catch up on everything!

Milkulski seems pretty enthused:

– Sen. Barbara A. Mikulski met today with Barack Obama’s vice-presidential search team but would not disclose details of the conversation. Mikulski is a former co-chairwoman of Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign.

“I have assured Senator Obama that I will help him win, and I will help him govern,” Mikulski said in a statement released after the meeting, which, according to her office, was held away from the Capitol and included no other lawmakers.

“I was honored to be consulted in one of Sen. Obama’s first and most important decisions – the selection of his vice president. This is a critical decision that needs careful consideration. As mandated by this weighty decision, any future discussions I have on the issue will remain confidential.”

I hope that Murphy won’t restrict us too much, but the beauty of this country is that you can say anything you want even about current President, because of 1st amendment, I think.

Bush stole the election of 2000. I was very angry at him, but the funny thing was that my youngest nephew predicted who would win the election. :) He was 10 months old at that time, and my cousin was changing him and we joked–we would say: “who will win election Bush or Gore”? He would say “Bu”, then when the fight in Florida was over the votes we reversed the question by asking “Gore or Bush”? He still said “Bu” and Bush won. :)

Wow. I guess most of the so-called trolls we’ve seen around our site don’t bother me much because they’re polite compared to bloggers on other sites. I’ve seen stuff on other sites that’s extremely disturbing. I simply can’t understand why those sites aren’t moderated.

This leads me to another reason why I will vote against Obama. If what he inspires in his followers is such vile behavior, he’s very dangerous in my mind. I get it that Obama isn’t directly responsible for what his followers do and say. But neither does he persuade his “pals” in the media to clamp down on their blogs.

I remember when Obama was asked in one of the debates about his stand on violent television shows and video games. Although he didn’t want his little girls watching that stuff, he had no problem with supporting free speech. Sorry, but I have a real problem with the stuff that’s encouraging violence in our society today. I’d like to see a President exercise some control over that.

That’s sweet that she’s excited about helping him “govern” because he’d need a lot of help with that. I wonder what he promised her – what carrot he dangled in her face…..I really get the feeling he’s playing on all their ego weaknesses, promising them whatever he thinks is going to flatter them and appeal to their pet projects or feed their personal ambitions. If that doesn’t work he threatens them or strong-arms. None of them look happy when they come out to support him. They look like they’ve made some kind of Faustian bargain. They’ve sold their integrity down the river….Or been coerced and backed up in a corner. It’s not pretty.

What I will be sending tomorrow to all the Senators in this post:

So ten female Democratic Senators came together at the former home of suffragette Alice Paul after we have sat though a year of misogynistic bashing of the first viable female candidate for President and they talked about macaroni and cheese, lipstick, and tankinis…

NOT ACCEPTABLE! Not one word of protest about the year and a half of misogynistic bashing Hillary Clinton was subjected to, or the sexist remarks now made about her female supporters. Instead you straightened your shoulder pads and talked about checklists with summer camp and donuts.

Well, I have a checklist too -
1. Not vote for BO
2. Don’t give a dime to the DNC
3. Let as many people know as possible how very disturbed I am by the way this was handled by women in power who should be standing up for women everywhere.

To borrow a quote from another concerned voter: “Sexism has reached well beyond critical mass now. In what universe does the correct response to a protest of sexism and the dismantling of voting rights = female senators holding up their unity pom-poms and putting out a parade of gender stereotypes to reduce our concerns as voters to…macaroni and cheese?”

Some may defend the statements made with the argument that it would be “difficult” for them to talk about media misogyny without distracting from their goals. I do not accept that assessment. The fair and respectful treatment of women should BE one of their goals. If not now – when?

Thank you for your support. My dad was born in 1943 in Romanian ghetto. My uncle gets very angry at me when I tell him that I don’t plan on being around for much longer once I am 48. I could die of cancer or some other disease. I guess once I turn 48 I will accept each day that I will live, but I won’t be expecting to live much longer.

About 2 months ago, my older sister (she’s 12 years older than me) went with me to our homeopathic doctor to see what she could give my niece for acne, and she asked her about that, and my sister said exactly the same thing about living past 48.

I just emailed my letter to superdelegates Feinstein, Boxer, and McNerney that I will be voting for McCain in November. I had problems sending my letter through the Lobby Delegate website. When I posted a donation of $5 or $20, it stated it was an invalid amount. So, I had to Google the email addresses of each sd.

I will send more delegate letters tomorrow.

I do not believe the Quinnipac polls about *61 leading in PA, OH, and FL. They are all in cahoots with his campaign. If you read the reports from ABC News, *61 is having problems with about 20% of Hillary’s voters.

The night after Hillary made her June 7th speech I went to McCain’s site and signed up. The people there were so nice to the Hillary people. They welcomed us warmly. One guy said to me, “Welcome to your new home.” No one told them to be nice to us. We were all hurting and they were so kind. They didn’t get any “talking points” to be that way. They just were. One McCainiac said she sympathized. She had been a Huckabee supporter and after he dropped out she came around to McCain, but she knew how disappointing it was, etc. Some of them said they thought the primary had been a sham….They were just great.

Then out of curiosity I went to Obama’s site. Had no plan of joining him, but I was curious what the tone would be like there. MAN. It was like “Clockwork Orange.” Nasty. They hated Hillary. The site was full of very nasty comments about her. I don’t just mean criticism of her positions, etc. I mean downright mean-spirited personal nastiness. They were all so full of themselves, planning Obama’s cabinet, his vice-president, etc. I thought I watching the political version of fantasy football or something. IT was a very unpleasant, almost scary, experience to be there…. A few days later the site underwent a big scrubbing. They were all freaking out ’cause their posts were being removed, they were getting warning notices about the content and they were all in fluster, couldn’t understand what they had done wrong.

The way I look at it, the tone of a candidates blog sites, campaign volunteers, etc., reflects the candidate. Obama’s was very ugly. McCain’s was very decent. Hillary’s was wonderful. That says a lot to me.

I can understand how you must feel with a cloud hanging over your head. We have been taught that cancer runs in families. I think it is what we are exposed to and believe me we are exposed to many toxic products in order to make large profits in the business world. Think positive and try to live healthy.

The “sneaky little trolls” you refer to are still easy compared to my very Republican ex-boyfriend. His staunch right-wing beliefs sometimes leave me scratching my head. But he follows politics much more closely than I do. Sometimes all I have on my side is gut-feel logic.

That’s part of why I appreciate addressing the issues at this site. I’m much more articulate at presenting the issues when I’ve been gathering input from all of you.

I came into this primary in January 2008 “feeling” that Hillary was the best candidate. I’m more sure of myself now because of the information exchange. And if that means having a few discussions with Obama supporters along the way, I don’t mind. It helps clarify and solidify my position.

I respect your position too, by the way, Brian. I can sympathize with your frustrations while feeling a little differently about the issue.

About an hour ago a young guy maybe my sons age came by the house for the DNC. I am surprised how mad it made me. He was a nice kid but I told him NO! I am for Hillary and after the way she was treated by the DNC and Obamaites I am not giving one dime and in fact I am voting for McCain. My son and husband were talking together and overheard me, I guess I was rather passionate, and my son yelled WOOHOO! and laughed. Then he said “I didn’t really care about the election but if my Momma is voting for McCain because she is for Hillary then by God so am I”. He is too smart to bite the hand that feeds him and I was making his favorite homemade spaghetti sauce at the time. So see we PUMAS can influence many other voters with our passion.

Thank you for your encouragement. I am trying my best to drink as little Pepsi/Coca Cola as I can. I try to go through the box of 24 cans in about a week rather than 2 or 3 days. I switched to Subway sandwiches from Cheeseburgers, and Whoopers which I LOVE! And I am eating french fries at home more often because at a restaurant it’s fried in the same oil. When I was pregnant and then breast feeding I forced myself to eat salads. Now, I am relaxing until I decide to get pregnant again.

No biggie. I’m just less concerned about perceived “trolls” engaging in conversations with us. Maybe it comes from being misjudged at Hillary’s site during a time when I was still exploring my feelings about two unhappy choices (Obama and McCain). I was called a “troll” and told to go away. People didn’t realize how much of a Hillary supporter I was, partly because less than 2% of my posts ever got through. So I don’t want to misjudge anyone and hurt their feelings the way my feelings were hurt.

Besides, I don’t see the conversations as a distraction. I see them as an opportunity to have meaningful discussions about the issues.

Sent to all the senators:

Senator Lincoln said, “We women make lists.”

Well, we deadenders make lists too. Here’s mine:

1. Contact all women senators in the democratic caucus, Dean, Reid, and news media.
2. Ask them where these senators’ unified visible front was when the Obama campaign and media engaged unchecked in the most vile misogynist campaign we have ever seen — not just against a woman — against one of their own.
3. Tell them the fact that not of them spoke out, the exact group that should have been working on their concern list six months ago, helped set back women’s progress 50 years, and that their transparent limp gesture today is an insult. In particular, that they stayed quiet as mice for political expedience makes them unworthy of leadership, and laughable as messengers of women’s concerns.
3. Ask them why if Obama’s surrogates use Roe v Wade scare tactics to bludgeon us into submission, why reproductive rights is not on their checklist.
4. Tell them that for the first time, I am truly ashamed of my party.
5. Tell them I will never vote for Obama, donate to or volunteer for the DNC, or support these women senators.

Just wanted to tune in here and say wonderful video, it gets to the point, that it is a little too late to come out and request back up for O when you stood aside and allowed one of your own Senators to be abused, beaten by the MSM and disrepected. Now as Stepford Women you come out and want to have tea and crimpets, sorry a little too late, that part of my commitment to the dem party is over, it has ended.

Senator Mccain has my vote and I feel no quilt because in my mind he is the lesser of the two evils.

Who wants to live by Black Liberation Theology rules, you can see it in MO and BO, they can try to hide it to get the nomination but it is there, sorry I’ll pull that lever for McCain even if Hillary is VP, she will be out of the limelight, he will only do that to become president, she will not have any power, his/her egos are to big to allow that.

#538 Witchy 1 on 06.19.08 at 12:23 pm

Don’t know if this is the proper thread, but I was asked to pass this on. This is the latest press release from the Democracy Workshop at Hillary Green Mountain:

THE WOMAN WHO CHAMPIONS VOTING RIGHTS FOR WOMEN AROUND THE WORLD, DOESN’T HAVE THEM IN HER OWN COUNTRY, EVEN IF SHE IS A PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE.

It is ironic that the first woman candidate for President, Hillary Clinton, long an advocate for voting rights for women around the world, may herself be denied a Roll Call Vote at the Democratic Convention in August if Howard Dean and the DNC have their way.

Dean, DNC Chair, quoted in a recent New York Times article, said that he didn’t want a symbolic roll call for Hillary on the first ballot in the interests of “unity.” This is yet one more move in a series of unilateral moves by the DNC to turn over accepted practices in this year’s democratic nomination process. Dean himself was on the first ballot with a fraction of the delegates that Hillary brings to the table. Our grassroots coalition sees this latest move as an affront to all who voted for Hillary, as taking her name off the ballot effectively removes the first woman candidate, who won 18 million votes, off the DNC record books, as if it never happened.

It is these and other unilateral moves by the DNC to deny Hillary the same rights other candidates have enjoyed for decades that have caused Hillary Clinton’s supporters to form a new action center called the Democracy Workshop. The coalition is a melting pot of race, sex, age, political persuasion, and socio-economic status. The coalition is outraged at the treatment Mrs. Clinton has received at the hands of the DNC in this election cycle and is joining hands with many other groups of Hillary supporters across the nation to form “one cohesive line of defense” of the democratic process. “This no longer about Hillary. It’s bigger than Hillary. Hillary is our inspiration as she modeled to us to ‘never give up and never give in’ on your principles” said one of its founders.

Good Morning all, will be writing Senator Murray later. I tried the lobby delegate site, but it waits until I write my letter, then won’t llet me send it.

Witchy 1

According to the group, the list of violations are adding up to a bigger story: that of a collusion between the DNC and the Obama campaign to “select, not elect” the nominee. Some of the DNC moves that are outraging Americans who believe in a democratic election process are:

· Rules changed to favor the “DNC selected” candidate Obama.

· Punishing Michigan and Florida for early voting but not the other states that favored the “DNC selected” candidate Obama. This move is unprecedented.

· Pledged delegates have not been assigned based on the popular vote.

· Donna Brazile said that if Super Delegates decided the nominee she would quit the Democratic Party. In fact Super Delegates were put in place to guarantee an electable candidate. Clearly Hillary has the bigger General Election advantage due to popular vote, her broad base of supporters, and win of key swing states in the primaries.

It is these and other DNC practices combined with dirty hardball politics by the Obama campaign and his online bloggers that have alienated Hillary’s voters from their party and that have outraged people all over the world who are tuned into this election cycle This outrage is reflected in Obama’s miniscule “bump” in the polls after Hillary suspended her campaign. As one founder said “We will not go quietly into the night

hey all, thanks for the articles about the 10 senators. i like the mayor really respect patty murray. she has done so much for washington state, she is down to earth, someone you would want as your mom, not at all who you would picture as a politician. i remember something about her and wearing tennis shoes most regularly… but i can’t remember where this reference comes from why i remember that. but anyway, i bet it is a lot like hillary being forced to say she supports obama in that murray is the number 4 senator so she is forced to be a group with that jerk mccaskill because murray is a true dem and does sincerely want to see women’s issues be solved not just talked about. she is big on the environment and women’s issues, so i have no doubt that her intentions are sincere. she is like hillary in that she is a doer not a talker. and i don’t know, if everyone knew her the way we did in washington state you would know why we think she was railroaded into this group in a way, although the benefits of it if it works out would support the things that she fights for as a washington state senator… anyhoo, you can all disagree but i do have to say that senator murray is most definitely on the up and up when it comes to serving the people and being a true democrat, i know because she was my senator… and the people of washington state love her and how she gets so much good things done for them. she unlike so many others of them, does her job and loves her job for her constituents.

Here’s a list of zip codes if that helps you to get through their emails:
http://www.mongabay.com/igapo/zip_codes/MN.htm

Please phone these leaders and tell them if they really care about the concerns of women they should stand up and endorse Hillary Clinton. If they care about equal rights and equal treatment that they should stand up against sexism in the Democratic party. If they care about women’s rights they should investigate the treatment of Hillary Clinton by the media. If they care about reforming healthcare, they should help Hillary Clinton get into the White House. If they care about keeping jobs in America, they should not be endorsing the guy that once again has flip-flopped on NAFTA.

Specifically ask Senator McCaskill “Why, after accepting approximately $500,000 from Emily’s List did you feel no obligation to back the more qualified female candidate for President?”

Sen. Klobuchar accepted roughly $300,000 from Emily’s List. Why didn’t she endorse Hillary?

Sen. Boxer was mum during this whole primary season. Why the sudden concern about women’s issues now? Senator Boxer launched an investigation into the horrific treatment of the Dixie Chicks after one of them publicly criticized Bush. Where is that outrage about the treatment Hillary has received? Where is the investigation?

NOT ONE OF THEM called out the media for the sexism!

Here is the letter I sent instead of music.

Dear Senator,

How nice that you have taken the time out of your busy day to throw us women a bone. Too bad you were not thinking of the 18 million, mostly women, who voted for not only the first woman presidential candidate, but the most qualified candidate. Where were you ladies when Keith Olberman, Chris Matthews, Jack Cafferty, and Ed Schultz, were hurling unprecedented sexist attacks on Hillary, and by extension all women, daily and nightly for months?

With each win the media asked, “When will she quit, she’s only hurting Obama,” never mind she was winning by anywhere from 10 – 40 points. Consider the following and ask yourselves why the rush to throw Hillary under the bus.

Howard Dean went to the 2004 DNC convention with 167.5 pledged delegates. And his name was on the first ballot.
Ted Kennedy was 1000 delegates behind Jimmy Carter in 1980. And Kennedy’s name was on the first ballot at the convention.
Hillary Clinton has 1640 pledged delegates today. But Howard Dean says her name will not be on the first ballot at this year’s convention because it would “discourage party unity.”

We will remember in November,

(name ommitted here)
