Today is a new day, Pumas! Shorttermer designed a letterhead yesterday with this image at the top and the words, “We Are Watching You” underneath. That’s a pretty good message to be sending to the media and the DNC right now. Summer’s starting, weather’s nice — they’re probably hoping we’re going away; that we’ll forget and move on. But guess what? The idea of just Move On is so yesterday, so 20th Century. We’re not going away, not moving on, not forgetting.

UPDATE 6/17/08 at 9:05am: Yesterday’s letter to Howard Dean is getting some media play today. From the American Spectator:

This is how it happens, folks. We keep active and organized and on message, and we will be heard. Will Bower and others at JustSayNoDeal are doing an excellent job at media outreach. At the same time, there needs to be a there there for the media to respond to when they finally wake up enough to start paying attention. We’re the there — right here. Puma PAC is making the most grass-roots noise, and we are doing an absolutely fabulous job of staying united and speaking with one voice.
We are the weight that is going to pull the Democratic Party back onto its true path. Right now, struggling with the impossible baggage of the Obama Movement, the party looks something like this:

Everyone, if you want to participate, please start sending those get well cards and continue doing so at least through the middle of next week. The cards will be most effective if we send them via email and fax to every email address and every fax number that we have for every and any supposed leader of the Democratic Party (excepting those who are well and still in touch with the party’s principles, of course!).
Write whatever you want, but try to keep it simple, something like “I am sad to see that the Democratic Party hasn’t been feeling well lately and is no longer able to represent the people who have been its most loyal supporters over the years. I hope that the principles of our Democratic Party make a full recovery soon.”
If you’re not a Democrat any longer, you can write “I hope that the principles of the Democratic Party make a full recovery soon” instead.

I just sent the following email to Bill O’Reilly. After I sent him our letter yesterday, Bill gave a lengthy speech last night toward the end of his program to say that he receives about 2,000 emails a day, that they read through every one of them, and that anyone who wants to see their email read on the tv should keep their message short and pithy. So here’s what I sent:
Dear Bill,
Hundreds of my Democratic friends and I, together with others who are sympathetic to us because of our party’s sorry state of late, will be sending get-well cards to Howard Dean and the DNC. Ok, by now I’m sure that the Puma Blogging community is well awars that the Obama campaign, his surrogates, and especially the Obamabots are intent on defending Obama’s lack of solutions and policies by twisting every issue into a Roe v. Wade debate. For a campaign that decries the politics of “divisiveness and distraction” they sure are willing to focus on perhaps the most divisive political issue in Modern US history. There needs to be a concerted effort to scrub Obamabot comments that continue to bombard anti-obama website with blatant lies concerning McCains past positions. The fact is that for 30 years we have heard this argument and fear-mongering claiming that Republican presidents would appoint judges that would overturn Roe v. Wade. But of course, it is never mentioned that Presidents only recommend appointments and that the Senate must approve them. As a pro-choice independent, I believe that it is a system of checks and balances that worked well and not pleased either side. The abortion issue is important, but it is an issue that will continue to be unsuccessfully debated for generations to come.
Additionally, everyone should strongly consider registering accounts with Digg, Reddit, Propeller, and RCP and voting for articles submitted to this site which tell the truth about Obama’s record. The Obama bloggers are bombarding these sites and burying any article which criticizes Obama in an attempt to skew the front-page stories.

With all due respect for your magnificent work with the environment, I am sorely disappointed in your support of Mr. Obama. I realize that you were forced either by threat of expulsion or by some type of monetary promise to support him as was our legitimate nominee Hillary Clinton. I cannot believe that a man of your standing can still support the Democratic Party after its behavior in the recent primary election.
I have been a devoted Democrat for over 40 years and sadly I have been forced through my conscience and my personal conviction to my country to change my party affiliation to Independent.
Under the direction of Howard Dean, the great Democratic Party that we once knew, has been reduced to one of cheaters, thugs, liars, and vile mouthed supporters. And now it has been taken over by a man who does not have the experience, the judgment, the moral character or the dedication to this country and its people, to be our President.
The Democratic Party no longer represents the ideals of fairness and the voice of all voters. The Democratic candidate was selected, not elected, and he will not be supported by millions of voters. We will not “fall in line”.
I will protest the 2008 presidential election and I will not support the Democratic party in the future unless its leaders return to its core principles by means of which the party can once again legitimately represent us.

I wrote Jessie Jackson a letter today asking why he has not spoken on that statement about the guns that *61 made. Knowing in Chicago he and members of the community have been marching against gun violence in that cityand high rate of teen killings by gang violence. I have to get to work so I’ll refer you to the Alaska Wilderness League website http://www.alaskawild.org/index.htm for more information on the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. I’m very passionate about preserving the Arctic Refuge and believe it will be a huge mistake to allow the multinational oil companies excess to the 1002 area, a biologically sensitive area and baby’s nursery. We cannot drill our way to energy independence. We consume 25% of the oil supply and have only 3% of the reserve, we will as long as we use oil as a fuel, be depended on foreign oil and there is no way of getting around that.

I’m a little concerned about all the suggestions of things to send the DNC. Antagonizing them won’t help our cause. Emails, letters, faxes, and phone calls are all appropriate. But sassysenora’s list, while entertaining, won’t convince anyone that Obama is wrong for our country. If anything, it discredits Pumas and the legitimacy of our concerns. We want them to listen to our concerns, not tune us out because we resort to childish behavior.
I had a really scary thought today. Could Obama choose David Axelrod as his Vice President? Could this whole VP search be a diversion, when his real plan is to put Axelrod in that position? I don’t know enough about the guy or about the prerequisites for a VP. (Of course, it’s not like Obama meets any of the prerequisites for President, besides being old enough.) But it seems as if Axelrod is pulling a lot of the strings in this campaign. If that’s the case, it’s not too far fetched to believe that he has designs on the Oval Office himself.

I know we’re having fun venting and taking action, but it is IMPERATIVE that you check this list and send any related info to these people. We are getting off track and disorganized because Pumas are blogging this stuff and not communicating it to the point people. I release this list twice daily. Second, I dislike the tombstone idea. It’s cute, but in light of the rumors flying around about BHO and assassination and jabs at saying Hillary or the Clintons would arrange it casts us in a very negative light.

I thought I would let you know that if your are going to write newpapers about PUMA either by e-mail or thru the mail, there are some papers that will not print letters unless you tell them your name (both first and last), your complete address, and phone number. When I wrote some, I introduced myself, giving my address and phone number. Then I asked them to please print my letter in their letter section. Then at the bottom of my letter I just wrote my name, city and state, and PUMA Democrat.
I got a response from Gore on the email I just sent. Wanting support for “empty suit” and donations. Sent it back and said that I wouldn’t give a dime to the DNC or Obama and placed the picture of the tombstone in that replay!!!

Turns out she had worked with David Axlerod, Obama’s guy and her brother is a Chicago alderman and she worked for Richard Daley. Did she deliberately tank Hillary’s campaign and betray the trust put in her? Legitimate questions.
Pattie Solis Doyle worked for Axlerod at one time. This is not a coincidence. If she is a mole, this reminds me of President Nixon’s campaign in 1972. It resulted in Watergate and his resignation. This story is huge.

The purpose of the DNC stuff is to show them that we are not all females, not from one state, not of one race nor religion. We are not only contacting the DNC, but we are contacting delegates who flipped on their constituents by not endorsing who their people chose, media pundits who we believe are no fair and unbiased (like Donna Brazile of CNN). We’ve sent a condolence card to Russert’s family. We are contacting networks and pounding the pavement to get the word out to non-internet folks by handing out fliers. We’re contacting Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid. We’re thanking those delegates who continue to stand firm with Clinton against incredible pressure. We’re boycotting sponsors of biased programs. We’re designing t-shirts, fliers, and marketing products to increase visibility. Grassroots is each of us contributing the skills we have to make a difference. We don’t have the backing of major corporations (yet), our efforts are getting noticed. From this point, we can only grow and improve as our numbers swell. Best of all, people who share the same emotions about the campaign can feel a part of a family since many of us face the Obamabots at home in our community. It’s a safe place to vent and create and make friends all over the country. I’m awfully proud of our PUMA PAC family – how far we’ve come in just TWO weeks.

Just received this from S. Bill Nelson
Thank you for contacting me regarding election reform. The primaries leading up to this year’s presidential contest have demonstrated how urgently we must fix the problems that plague our election system. I have been working for the past eight months to create much-needed reforms.
In an address I recently delivered to the Florida Senate, I announced the One Person, One Vote Initiative, a package of election law changes intended to vastly increase citizens’ power to select presidential candidates and directly elect the nation’s president, while making it easier for everyone to vote.
The first piece of this three-part initiative would finally ensure the direct election of the President according to the national popular vote. I will propose a constitutional amendment to abolish the Electoral College. If there isn’t enough support for the amendment, my initiative includes an alternative for Congress to get behind a resolution that would advance the National Popular Vote proposal, which preserves the Electoral College but requires the electors in each state that passes the proposal to award that state’s Electoral College votes to the national popular vote winner.
The second part of the initiative would give voters a much greater say in picking their party’s presidential nominee. I will file a bill that would establish six rotating, interregional primaries beginning in March and ending in June every four years. Large and small states would be paired into six different regions, and states in each region would take turns going first–removing exclusive power from the nation’s first primary and caucus states, New Hampshire, South Carolina, Iowa, and Nevada.
The third part of my plan would improve voter rolls, remove barriers to voting, and ensure that votes cast are counted. I will propose a bill that would enable voters throughout the nation to vote early and cast absentee ballots on demand–something a number of states already allow. Also, all voting machines would be required to produce a paper trail, and states that develop mail-in balloting would be eligible for federal grants. Finally, the bill would provide grants to states that want to follow Florida’s lead in removing barriers to voting by allowing 16-year-olds to preregister.
My efforts to reform our election system are based on the simple premise that in America, every citizen has an equal right to vote and to have that vote counted. I appreciate your interest in this critical issue, and I hope you will not hesitate to contact me in the future.

Roe v Wade is a non-issue for me and I know how to help my daughter if she needs help. They need to find a bigger stick to beat me with- even the women of my mother’s generation had abortions- they just called it a D&C.
I do know that it is an issue for some- but for crying out loud- it hasn’t been overturned yet and won’t be. What would the Republicans use to get out their base if Roe went away?
Well I finally did it, I’m now considered “Decline to State” I’ve been doing so much writing and really cant think of whom else to send messages to, about how we are disgusted with the way the Dems treated Hillary, and gave her votes away by the DNC, we cant let Obama get away with this, I dont know how or what to do but I’m sure there are people out there who does know. There is one thing bothering me though and that is that all this talk is great but nothing is happening, I’m hoping that it’s not just talk and that action will becoming soon. Yeah, Murphy!! Glad to see that is our talking point and possible action launch point today. I’ve already written an email to Hannity at Fox this morning, stating that “Strong women don’t vote with their uterus. They vote with their heads. Roe v. Wade is practically obsolete, given the myriad of birth planning choices today. It’s an old-worn-out-chewed-out issue that falls flat when it comes out of the mouths of men. Smart women will not be swayed.”
Now, on to CNN and Bill O’R and anyone else that will listen. We must be extending those puma claws on this one. It is so retro.

This is a break down of all candidates up for election in November. The Democratic candidates need to feel the pressure from all of us. Emails should go out to each candidate expressing the lack of support they will receive if they don’t take a stand with the DNC.
Open Seats – Currently held by Republicans
Colorado
Rep. Mark Udall (D) vs. Rep. Bob Schaffer (R)
Mark Udall’s campaign has gotten off to a roaring start, raising money, launching TV ads, and gaining support in the polls. He’s building on a decade-long record of results, including leading the charge to convert the Rocky Flats nuclear weapons plant into a clean and vibrant wildlife refuge.
Meanwhile, Schaffer has spent the last few months dealing with revelations that a tropical vacation was bought and paid for by a front group for convicted Republican lobbyist Jack Abramoff. The DSCC will make sure every Colorado voter knows all about it when they head to the polls on Election Day.
New Mexico
Rep. Tom Udall (D) vs. Rep. Steve Pearce (R)
Earlier this month, Pearce emerged victorious from a contentious Republican primary, thanks to help from anti-government zealots at Club for Growth. Now, our right-wing opponents have their sights set on Tom Udall, Mark’s cousin, who is running ahead in the polls. Udall has already launched two campaign ads and has built a larger campaign war chest than both Republican candidates – combined.
Even Sen. Ensign, the national chair of the Republican Senate campaign, thinks Pearce will lose. He told reporters last week that New Mexico is a low priority for him and that the party shouldn’t waste money on races they can’t win.
However, we cannot get complacent. The early polls show that New Mexico is all but certain to be a key battleground state in the presidential election and will get plenty of attention from all corners. The DSCC’s job is to make sure neither the Club for Growth or any other third-party organizations can’t sink our chances.
Virginia
Gov. Mark Warner (D) vs. Gov. Jim Gilmore (R)
Mark Warner left the Virginia governor’s mansion with an 80% job approval rating. He is consistently polling ahead of Gilmore by double digits, and he holds a whopping $5 million cash-on-hand advantage. Just last week, Warner launched his campaign’s first TV ad, focusing on his record of bipartisan problem-solving. He’s even earned endorsements from two Republican former state legislators.
Needless to say, this is one of our best pick-up opportunities this cycle.
Sitting Incumbents
Alaska
Sen. Ted Stevens (R) vs. Anchorage Mayor Mark Begich (D)
You don’t find a vulnerable 40-year incumbent every day. But ethics and corruption charges have wreaked havoc on the Alaska Republican Party and put Sen. Stevens on the ropes. Mark Begich is well-known statewide and recent polling pegs his favorability rating at 58%. Some public surveys even show Begich holding a slight lead in this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to defeat a 7-term incumbent.
Our chances here are buoyed by a recent DSCC poll that shows Alaska will be a presidential battleground state. Barack Obama trailed by only 2 points. That’s amazing if you consider that John Kerry lost here by 25 points in 2004. Obama is sure to pour plenty of resources into the state, and that can only help Begich stay competitive.
Kentucky
Sen. Mitch McConnell (R) vs. Bruce Lunsford (D)
Sen. McConnell knows he’s in trouble. As Republican Minority Leader, he’s the one blocking progress on all the key issues, from health care to global warming to the housing crisis. His schtick just isn’t tolerated any more, even in a conservative state like Kentucky.
Bruce Lunsford, on the other hand, is a life-long Kentucky business leader who has created more than 60,000 new jobs. The polls between him and McConnell are still close, even though the incumbent has already poured more than $2 million into campaign ads to rehab his image.
Six months ago, no one thought Kentucky would be competitive. But we’ve got the right candidate and the right strategy, and we’re going to send a clear message to our opponents by taking the fight right to their leadership.
Maine
Sen. Susan Collins (R) vs. Rep. Tom Allen (D)
Sen. Collins likes to portray herself as some kind of moderate, but the truth is that she’s always been a reliable vote for George Bush’s failed policies. She even voted in favor of an open-ended American commitment in Iraq by opposing a timetable for withdrawal. Now, Tom Allen is ready to hold her accountable for her steady support of Bush.
Minnesota
Sen. Norm Coleman (R) vs. Al Franken (D)
Minnesota Republicans underestimated Al Franken. The polls show this race to be a dead heat, and Franken has begun to show a slight fundraising advantage against Sen. Coleman. He’ll need that edge to win in November.
It’s a good thing too. Coleman has proven himself to be out of touch with Minnesota voters, having voted with George Bush 86% of the time, including key votes in support of the Iraq war and drilling in ANWR.
Mississippi
Sen. Roger Wicker (R) vs. Gov. Ronnie Musgrove (D)
Let’s be honest. Earlier this year, the pundits didn’t give us a chance at putting a Democrat into Trent Lott’s old seat. But a huge Democratic victory in a recent special congressional election has the prognosticators changing their tune. Now, Ronnie Musgrove leads in the latest polling, and Sen. Wicker, having only served for 6 months, doesn’t have all the usual incumbent advantages. This one could be primed for an upset.
New Hampshire
Sen. John Sununu (R) vs. Gov. Jeanne Shaheen (D)
The Granite State has been trending Democratic for years and is now one of our best pick-up opportunities. Jeanne Shaheen has been hammering Sen. Sununu for standing with the Bush administration and holds a sustained lead in a series of polls. She even out-raised the entrenched incumbent in the most recent campaign filings – no mean feat.
The DSCC has been tracking this race from the beginning. We’ve already launched an online ad campaign to show New Hampshire voters how Sununu accepted $220,000 in campaign money from the oil and gas industries, even though we all are suffering through record-breaking prices at the pump.
New Hampshire is another presidential battleground state and the Senate race will go right down to the wire. The work we do here won’t just add to our Senate seat haul, it will also help put Barack Obama into the White House.
North Carolina
Sen. Elizabeth Dole (R) vs. State Sen. Kay Hagan (D)
Pundits called this one the sleeper race of the cycle because Sen. Dole wasn’t supposed to be vulnerable. But Kay Hagan has been surging after winning the Democratic primary. Several polls showed her within striking distance or even slightly ahead of the incumbent.
Dole panicked and quickly rushed to launch a statewide TV campaign. She’s got a huge campaign war chest, so this is sure to be just the start of Dole’s efforts to rehab her image. The DSCC’s job is to level the playing field and give Hagan everything she needs to keep fighting.
Oregon
Sen. Gordon Smith (R) vs. State Speaker of the House Jeff Merkley (D)
There’s no need to wait any more for the Senate races to get going. In Oregon, we’re already at full-throttle. Before last month’s Democratic primary was even settled, Sen. Smith launched an attack ad targeting Jeff Merkley. Immediately, the DSCC jumped to respond to the attacks with a TV ad of our own. We won’t cede an inch in this already hard-fought race.
This might be the hottest Senate race in the country right now, and it’s only going to get hotter. Obama polls strongly in Oregon and the momentum around electing a Democratic president is sure to spill over to other races. With a little luck, we’ll send Merkley to Washington as part of a gridlock-proof majority who end Republican obstructionism. Stay tuned.

Clintonite Lanny Davis heads to Fox
Lanny Davis, who never gave up on Hillary Clinton’s campaign, even as the chairs were packed up, is now joining Fox News as a contributor, according to the Washington Post.
It may seem strange that a former Clinton White House lawyer will sit alongside Karl Rove and Newt Gingrich, but remember that Clinton surrogates were out in force during the primary praising Fox.
I think you should take Dr. King’s quote that you have on the puma pac action page and put it on the front page of this website as well. It’s a great quote.

Poll Finds Independent Voters Split Between McCain, Obama
Independents divide 45 percent for McCain to 43 percent for Obama on the question of Iraq, in part because they are conflicted about the current situation there.
Good Morning Trish, Murphy, and all….got an email from someone I’d never heard of asking me to donate to noname, and to come to a reception for him in Jacksonville.
Here is my response, I tried hard to contain my disgust and be appropriate:
Dear Kellye,
I am one of those women who will not be voting for Senator Obama in November. My name was added to this Blacksonville address book by scraping it from a Real Estate conference. Just for conversation, I am well educated, I am a partner in a commercial real estate business and have given my choice a considerable amount of thought. If I sound defensive, it’s because I am. I’ve been called vile names, I’ve been told that I must be uneducated and just plain stupid to be considering any candidate other than yours. I’ve been called a post-menopausal bitch, and I’m just getting started.
What happened on May 31 was a travesty. I will not support the Democratic party and will work diligently to see that it is brought back to a party for the grass roots, where all votes count, and politicians work within the system instead of changing the process to serve one candidate and pick and choose which states to include.
Senator Obama had a glorious opportunity to show his support for all voters, for all women, and for Senator Clinton by choosing to denounce the unbelievable misogyny and media bias. Instead he chose to say and do nothing, and has little volunteers at this very moment, out there on the web working diligently to shame, coerce, and insult anyone who disagrees. Please feel completely free to share this with the Senator, although I’m sure that I, along with all the other 18,000,000 voters are the farthest thing from his mind, given his comments regarding how he doesn’t need Florida or the women who are disenfranchised. Oh, I forgot for a moment. You are one of those disenfranchised, are you not? Kellye, I realize you are doing your best for the candidate of your choice, and I commend you for that, I simply will not join in what appears to me, to be a series of revivals where people are stirred into a frenzy over a man who has spent under 200 hours in the senate. Has voted present more times than he’s voted anything else. We so need more than promises, and so far, that is all that he brings to the table.

While I absolutely love this man. He is a good man, and stood up against the party bosses admirably at the RBC meeting on May 31st. And he made me very proud being a registered Independent voter in the state of FL [I will not forget those who voted me half a person], as he was a strong supporter of what is right – count votes as cast.
However, I do not agree with changing our Consitution to do away with the Electoral college system. That system was placed in there by our founding fathers – who each and every one of the them LOVED our country. Please google and see their reasoning behind it. Popular votes can be vote, votes can be cast by dead people and pet, it is the most suspectible to fraud and criminals. And, I do not trust them [even my Honorable FL Respresentative on this point] to change my consitution – so many of them are crooks. The DNC boses have already monkeyed with the system to where they can do whatever they please and still feel justified.

While watching MSNBC’s HardBall last night with Chris Matthews, it was mentioned that BHO has 237 Electorial votes to McCain’s 216. Yet our Hillary already had the Electorial Map needed to win in the fall because she already had an Electorial Map of 308; and that was before Puerto Rico and South Dakota. Consider also that she won the total Popular Vote and I am flawed that the DNC pushed the SuperDelegates to endorse a man who did not win. Amazing… truly amazing.

In Kenya, where Obama’s father is from, a second birth certificate for Obama was issued and registered with Kenya’s government. This is a custom in Kenya, when a baby is born to a Kenyan citizen overseas: that birth is recorded in Kenya in addition to the United States, or wherever. The blogs have been buzzing with the fact that GOP operatives have been to Kenya researching Obama’s past, and Obama’s father and other family in Kenya, and it appears they have obtained a copy of Obama’s Kenyan birth certificate.
The reason this is interesting is something no one has caught yet.
In some foreign countries, a baby’s religion is written on the birth certificate, particularly in countries with multiple religions. If Kenya is a country that requires this note on a birth certificate, and if Obama’s father had “Muslim” written on his birth certificate, then Obama has a lot of explaining to do.

Good morning Pumas! I am new member having joined a few days ago, and I have enjoyed reading these posts. The passion of everyone here to stand by Hillary and to make the changes needed to reform the ‘Democratic Party is great to see. But passions wain.
I’ve been a staunch Democrat and political activist since the McGovern years end I been through the entire cycle of young, eager and foolish to cynical and dispassionate number cruncher, so forgive me if I my remarks rub some of you the wrong way, I apologize in advance it’s just that I feel passionate right now about the direction of the Party.
I see a lot of energy being put into letters, petitions, banners, logos, videos and blog posts. That’s great, it’s great because it helps build a community and connect with people with the same aims and keeps us motivated. But the elephant in the room is the nagging feeling we have is – will any of this matter? Now I don’t want to throw cold water on our passions, but rather I want to elevate this energy and make suggestions that can help take us to the next level. By next level I mean we need to become a respected, powerful, desired and feared movement within the Democratic Party that can influence the process and the selection of nominees on local, statewide and nation levels. If you look at those movements that have succeeded in becoming that, Emily’s List, MoveOn, etc., the key to their success has been to a) raise money on behalf of candidates b)marshall large groups of people to react quickly. It was of course the internet that made this possible for those other groups, we all know this. PumaPac is at the threshold of becoming as influential as those other groups, the question in my mind is, are we willing to truly cross that threshold and be a sustainable organization after the passion of the Primary elections dissipates?
So with that in mind let me suggest the following. Use the tools of the internet to build an effective organization. It seems we have a golden opportunity ahead if we are willing to take it. I call for a formal organizing meeting of PumaPac to be held in Denver at the same time as the Democrats. Why? Because it is the best opportunity to build a sustainable organization. The entire domestic press will be in Denver and will be looking for a story – can you think of a better time to gain publicity? Pumapac could invite each and every disaffected Clinton delegate to cross the street and come join Pumapac. The press would love that. It will allow Democrats across the country to see that there is an organization fighting to reform the party, an organization that would be a counter to the MoveOn crowd. It would helper build a membership and donor base that would make PumaPac the political interest group we should become.
What would we do at such an organizing meeting? Unveil the Pumapac message via the assembled media through appointed spokespeople that can best be the public face of Pumapac. (maybe even change the name to PumaDems?) Explain who we are, our goals, hopes and desires as it regards the reform of the Democratic party. Have work-groups, speakers and conference calls about what is happening at the Democratic convention, why the rules are not being applied fairly and expose the undemocratic nature of the selection process. Unveil a new enhanced internet site for the general public (which must be prepared in advance). Announce a fundraising blitz to raise a set amount of money immediately, and thus showing the DNC that Pumapac is a viable operation. Identify and support with our efforts and dollars those DEMOCRATIC candidates that subscribe to the reform agenda of Pumapac. Target one or two senate elections to secure victory for a Pumapac endorsed Democratic candidate.
It is only by becoming an effective group that elects our candidates that our voices will truly be heard within the party, all the petitions, emails and letters can not, and will not, have the impact as campaign dollars. If our goal is to see that the next time around Democrats in a primary battle have an even playing field that reflects the will of the people then this is one path to that goal, there may be others. If we merely channel our passions in actions that merely “cut off our nose to spite our face”, then I’m sorry to say that in the long run, they win. Again, I make these suggestions in the hope that we can build a truly effective movement that not only succeeds in giving as an outlet for expressing out anger over what has transpired, but an outlet to create something truly great. You are the swing voters; you are the one who will determine this election – and by changing to Independent status , you send a shockwave through the DNC and undemocratic Democratic Party. And the beauty of it is [like nObama suggested during the primary - just be a Dem for a Day] you can vote for any of the candidates – person not party – and you can change back after the general election if you want to.

In my humble opinon, everyone here should send their own personal letter to the super delegates that are still with Sen Clinton, an email to those that have switched over and are with Sen No Name and the 120 or so that are still uncommitted – again and over again – while the site is still up – http://www.lobbydelegates.com – so simple you copy and paste your comment and go into that site by State – click on all and they will get your email – this works – I have now had 25 responses – all but one was positive and this is the way to make a difference in the convention in August – I have had about 150 or so emails come back with changes of their addy addresses – so if we all get to them quickly before they take off their email addresses – this will make a difference – she needs those votes – there are only 127 pledged delegates difference from the primaries – without his SD support he can not win the nomination.

Some comments regarding Roe vs Wade: Prior to the 1970’s many atrocities by dark alley medical charlaten (sp) took place; as well as self imposed injuries to abort a pregnancy. There was also a negative sigma placed upon young girls not to become pregnant. Yet no such stigma were placed upon the young men. We heard things like, boys will be boys and the girl should have known better, etc. The was also a moral as well as religious element back then. Fearful was the notion of becoming an unwed mother because mothers and fathers would literally throw their daughters out on the street increasing as it were the epidemic of sex for hire.
Well—those days are long gone. Most if not many of our youth are well informed about safeguards and protections. Birth control choices abound; not only for young women but for young males as well as more and more are taking responsibility for their actions. As responsible loving parents religious and moral compass has also changed drastically. For example, when our two sons were entering their dating years, I remember taking them aside and having an open discussion about their responsibility. I even asked them what they would do if the girl they were dating ever become pregnant. At first they said, I guess I would be compelled to marry her as the responsible thing to do. Very noble yes—but when I interjected and said to them: Son, if the girl you are with ever become pregnant, and should her family reject her, I promise you that your father and I will welcome both you, she and the baby to remain with us so that the two of you can continue your education. So you see—we who are in our 60’s… the baby boomers have a different perspective than our parents. Pregnancy is no longer a taboo. And unlike BHO, I would never think in terms of having a baby as some sort of “punishment” he said.
So who is left to be concerned about Roe vs Wade? Certainly not us seniors who are well beyond the years of becoming pregnant. And for many of the young to whom we have influenced through the years, (those now in their 20’s and 30’s) morality is the furthest thing from their minds. And if it were, for the price of an airline ticket one could cross into Canada or go to many other countries to have an abortion and without the fear and dread should Roe vs Wade be undone (which I doubt ever happening)–not now, not in our futures. The backlash would be tremendous. To those who remain adament that it is a religious issue: To them I say, how many Roman Catholics do you know of that will have a baby every year just to fulfill the premise of the Pope and Vatican. How many Evangelicals or Protestants: How many families do you see more than an average of 2 children? And if you don’t see more than 2 or 3… must mean, by the very logic of it, that they use and approve of Birth Control. And what is birth control but a way and a means of preventing a pregnancy. And what is birth control but another way of saying: aborting an outcome that is less than desireable.
So to those who say, but what about Roe vs Wade; just ask them: How many children do you have? If they answer two… follow that up with, oh, so I guess you and your spouse use birth control. If they answer in the affirmative, ask them to define it. Get them questioning… if not, get them thinking about what they *REALLY* believe in and why.

While I appreciate your time and effort and opinion in post 182, I must point out some things that you, as a ‘new’ PUMA must understand.
PUMAPAC has only been in existence TWO WEEKS. That’s it. TWO WEEKS. When I look back to my first posting when it started, I am PROUD beyond belief at how Murphy’s dream has bloomed.
While we may not all go about protesting in the same way at the present moment, we all have the same MESSAGE – NOBAMA. That is all the politicians and pundits need to know.
Will Bower of justsaynodeal has done a FABULOUS job with media coverage, and we are included in his coalition. Media interest is increasing by the minute, as are our numbers here on PUMAPAC. We’ve been told we are the most civil, intelligent, welcoming group of the coalition – and the MOST active. Murphy, the brainchild of this blog, is constantly in touch with our sister sites, and passes info on to us along with the emails we receive from them.
Murphy, and MANY members of PUMAPAC, are working our fingers off to improve every day. We have a new website getting ready to debut. We have a temporary Action website. We have PUMA gear, which no one else has. We have projects and coordinators and logos and, oh geez, there’s just too much to name.
We are legitimate and mobilized and getting noticed. PUMAPAC has hit the web more times than I can count. We are moving mountains, one rock at a time.
We are not backed by mega corporations and mega bucks. I’m proud we’re making noise and waves with the little money that we do have (although I hope it’s growing!) We work full time jobs and take care of kids and do classwork and are spouses. We are volunteers, not paid workers, and do what we can when we can. And it appears to be working.

This Democratic party is starting to really scare me ! At the DNC website under the 50 state strategy, there is a link to youtube called “Watch it, Governor Dean in Canada.” where he is speaking at the Liberal Leadership Convention in Canada in 2006. It’s definitely one you might want to listen to. Anyway, at the end he makes reference to running a “permanent” campaign, and referring to the “new democratic party. Then we have our party talking about redoing the electoral map. They moved the DNC to Obama’s stomping ground, and now they are talking about changing the constitution to do away with the electoral college system completely! (yet they say nothing about the caucuses) Then they hand pick Obama to be their puppet because he is such a motivational speaker. He can get a multitude of people riled up when they don’t even know why!!! They start talking about the “movement” that is taking place, rather than an election. After hearing the talk about a permanent election, I started paying closer attention to the bigger picture. The press pushing him on us, manipulating the press to keep the focus off of Hillary, the way the press sweeps all of his nasty associations under the carpet. I was angry that he was taking advantage of the young people because they are so vulnerable, but when I saw the section on his website for kids..8, 9, 10 year olds to get involved in the campaign..it appears to me that once they get the “power” they intend to keep it. It’s all about the power, not the opportunity to govern our country to be the best it can be. What better way to keep the power than to raise an entire generation that will know nothing other than that? You add Farakhan who practically endorsed him, Rev. Wright and Obama’s refusal to wear the flag pin, I am not sure what we could call our party if they pull this off. I feel desperate to save our democracy!!!
I am so glad that there are so many movements out there, and of course all us great PUMA’s, who can hopefully put an end to this disaster.

someone here suggested that we send things other than emails and faxes bc those don’t have much of an impact. for emails, you hit delete. faxes are easy to recycle. past campaigns have sent in oranges (from FL) and shoes (from around the US). those are tangible things that aren’t as easy to ignore as a fax or email.
my list is a brainstorming list. it was designed to list all the ideas for things we COULD send (for a campaign similar to the FL orange campaign), not what we SHOULD send. the idea was to generate as many ideas as possible and then agree on one or two things that we could send in a coordinated campaign like Brian and Elaine’s email to the DNC.

Yeah… I am and I agree. At this point in the game, it is has has been for a few months now a matter of the SuperDelegates… who can btw, change their mind at any time. So that, the way they switched their vote from Hillary to BHO, they can switch it back again. An endoresement is just that, an endorsement. It is a meaningless gesture until the last gavel fall at the August Convention. And let us also remember, that Hillary has also endorsed BHO… yet she is still on the ballot, so to speak.
So all this talk about, vote McCain and not BHO, or sign petitions for her to run as an Independent… is really not applicable at this time. What is is this:
SHE CAN STILL WIN THE NOMINATION.
- She is ahead in the Popular Vote
- She is ahead in the larger states needed to win
- She is ahead in the swing states
- She already has the 270 Electorial Map surpassing it by 308+ votes.
So yes—getting to the SuperDelegates is the best way to get her nominated—agreed. Still, since the DNC and media are promoting BHO, what it will take to get them to change their minds, imo is two-fold because she is lacking the funds to convince them at this point.
*1. BHO has to make a serious blunder.
*2. Right wing media has to expose him.
*3. His poll ratings have to drop down.
1. Just give him time… he is great with speeches and with a teleprompter but lousy on his feet.
2. Republican 527’s are alreay out there doing our job for us.
3. That’s where we come in. That will be the overall effect of what I would call, The CHURCH OF WHAT’S HAPPENING NOW!

With all due respect, I must decline your call for party unity behind a flawed and inexperienced candidate by the name of Barack Obama. While I admire all your work in the field of global warming, I am dismayed that you would support such a seriously flawed, inexperienced, unqualified and inept candidate like Barack Obama. I have been a lifelong Democrat, recently turned independent in protest of the actions of the DNC in dis-enfranchising Florida and Michigan, as well as the crooked caucuses and the report of over 2,000 cases of voter fraud and voter intimidation in Texas and Nevada. I do not recognize Barack Obama as the legitimate nominee of the Democratic Party, and since I do not, I will not support him or the DNC.
You are a respected party elder, and in spite of my respect for you, I will not sanction the hijacking of the Democratic Party and the hijacking of this nomination. I will not vote Democratic this year, I will not contribute a dime to support a party that has abandoned its base and its own principles. I am a Hillary Democrat, and I am a PUMA Democrat that for the first time in my life, will vote Republican for the Presidency, as well as down ticket. This election may well be the most important that I have ever encountered. There is so much at stake – we cannot let the OB group permanently take over the Democratic – or it will be lost for many years. That said, I am forced to join those who will vote for McCain and vote for the Democratic candidates for Senate & the House.
I believe that PUMA and other organizations like it are the key to winning back my former party.
As PUMA matures, I hope that we can continue reaching disaffected voters.
I have to admit more & more disappintment in the Taylor Marsh website. I never seen so much hate before, but that is the modus operendi of the OB drones.

i don’t think the campaign to send the DNC oranges from FL was childish behavior. obviously, you can disagree but i don’t think it helps to call the ideas of those many PUMAs here childish. i think it would be more productive to discuss the merits of emails/faxes vs tangible objects.
i thought your post above was insulting. making that list was difficult for me. i’m disabled and copying or posting it wasn’t easy. i did it bc it helped build camaraderie last night. i would have preferred to talk about supporting candidates who oppose unfaithful SDs (i.e., those endorsing obama against the wishes of their district or state) or ID potential PUMA supporters but no one else here was interested in those topics.
i think that there is merit in sending tangible objects (a la the oranges) as well as faxes and emails. again, if you don’t, that’s fine but i’d appreciate a discussion on the merits instead of posts that insult the efforts of PUMAs here.

Hi folks. I have huge frontage on the main road through our NW PA county. (Hillary kicked ass here!) We are very close to Ohio, lots of Ohio folks go by here as well. In the past, I have always allowed Dem candidates to post signs in my yard. This fall, there will be a test first.
Anyway- how can I get the biggest PUMA yard sign to post NOW?

There are 5 pieces of material in it: a shiny double sided color piece, 2 double side white sheets with words galore, donation sheet and an envelop for the check addressed to a Chicago office. It looks more like “cult” merchandising that a political brochure.

I understand your need to endorse Barack Obama since you are a Democratic Party loyalist. He will definitely need your expertise and wisdom as he moves through this campaign and perhaps a Presidency.
In receiving your plea for contributions to the Obama campaign, I regret to inform you that I cannot support Obama for the Presidency, will not give to his campaign, nor support the Democratic Party in any way. I have officially resigned from the national, state and local units and am now voting as an Independent.
The reasons for my non support are many, but two stand out more than others. First, the inability of the party and campaign to step up and fight the sexism that ensured during the primary by the main stream media was appalling. Even in local politics (having been a local elected official for 12 years), women are subject to more scrutiny and increasingly slanderous slurs. In fact, the Obama campaign encouraged sexism nationally in the most inhumane way, subtly and backhanded. Secondly, the Democratic Party selected the nominee rather than allow 18,000,000 voters decide. Not only did the Party and a majority of its super delegates ignore the popular vote, they also disenfranchised millions in Florida and Michigan who voted their very clear choice.
In a country that stands on the foundation that everyone has the freedom to choose, I do not expect and condone remarks like “fanatical” when I choose to vote my conscious in a peaceful, law-abiding manner. The Democratic Party and the Obama campaign have been insensitive to freedom of expression. If this is an example of how this Party and the Obama campaign want to run the country, God help us. They will do not better than the administrations of Republicans starting with Ronald Reagan. I fear for this country and its citizens when we have such right and left wing people dragging us all into fear, hate, and insensitivity to the moral and decency of democracy.

Lizzy – THANK you so much for all you have done in our shared efforts on the superdelegates – I, too, like you have had so MANY responses even from the BO group that said they would think about everything by the convention – they did not have to send any comment back to me – I have repeatedly mentioned that I have a contact who says that this effort works with them – and they can use it for their own good by saying they got 500 emails asking for the support of Hillary Clinton.
No, I did not try to resend any because in speaking with the owner of the site http://www.lobbydelegates.com (will plant that site in everyones mind and sooner or later they will check it out – even Murphy told everyone to vote on the site and look at the results – it has constantly gone up in the last TWO WEEKS) said that a lot of the sd’s changed their email address – he spent a wonderful amount of time to get it set up and obviously does not have the staff now to update with new email addy’s.
GOAndersen – I left it up to everyone to just hit as many States as they could or want to do on their own – no set amount – the other project that I have going on is blogging all the newspapers about PUMA and of course promoting Sen Clinton in the convention – I use both usnpl.com and thepaperboy.com to find the newspapers by State and by City – that project – had some people go to the end of the States and work forward – I started at the beginning of the States and a few others were taking the middle – you can write letters to the Editor – many have their own opinion area you can can on and others have articles that you can sign in and make comments – there are times that I have posted 5 different areas on one newspaper – this does take an extended amount of time doing this.

Hi All!
I got my letter to “Dr. Dean” off last night. Felt really good hitting that send button. I also mailed off a $10 check to Murphy to Fight the Good Fight. I love the “get well” card idea. I’ll pick one up tomorrow and get it in the mail. Or, I guess I could go through the Blue Mountain Card service and send out an email card.
In any case, I’ve continued blogging at various sites and have noticed Obamatrons continuously ranting and raving how PUMA and other grassroot opposition groups are pathetic and will eventually “come around” because we don’t have anywhere else to go. But the fervor of the messages, makes me think we are, in fact, rocking the boat and making the Obama crew nervous.
I just answered one Obamatron today who said the whole idea of Clinton Dems voting against the Democratic Party was an urban myth.
Really? They have a surprise coming full-steam ahead.

PS: One thing I read yesterday, reported that several senior Senators have voiced real discomfort at Obama’s arrogance and immaturity. They’re not willing to stand up and be counted yet, but maybe this is a beginning of “buyer’s remorse.” Personally, I’m sending a note to Ed Rendell [Pa. Gov], who is a class act. There was a incredible statement BO made about the Pa. fundraising event over the weekend–that his campaign didn’t need the people in attendance, only the checks. Rendell passed that quote along to USA Today. Good for him. Rendell’s the real deal.

No offense taken, and if I didn’t express my appreciation for what you, Murphy and the others here are doing, then please know I am very appreciative of your efforts and do not mean to denigrate them in any way. I am in fact highly impressed by how much you folks have accomplished in just a short time. The core purpose of my post was to try to see beyond the current “news cycle” and to see what the organizational path was to keep up the fine momentum you have started. The name change thing was just a “throw away” idea (kind of like new Coke). Please understand that the basis of my original post (rant?) was from my own anxiety that this movement will, as so many others have, not sustain itself but if the leadership here is working hard and good things are in the planning works- great, I’m all for it. My take on today’s talking point – I’m sending this letter to various media outlets:
As many Hillary Clinton supporters continue to be vocal about their determination to not support Barack Obama and the DNC, the Party is increasingly relying on Rovian fear tactics to undermine our resolve. Evoking the specter of back-room abortions is one such example.
Roe v. Wade is a Supreme Court decision that has withstood the administrations of Richard M. Nixon, Gerald H. Ford, Ronald W. Reagan, George H. W. Bush, and George W. Bush. Pro-choice has remained the dominant position among American voters, regardless of Party affiliation.
A report published by The Center for American Progress in June of 2007 indicated that the majority of Americans continue to support abortion rights:
• 55% said that the choice of abortion should be left up to the woman and her physician;
• 60% stated the belief that the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision was a good thing;
• 62% stated that they opposed overturning Roe v. Wade.
The Center for American Progress concludes: “A solid wall of public opposition currently stands in the way of abortion rights opponents’ plans to turn back the clock and criminalize abortion as it was before 1973—a wall that is unlikely to come down anytime soon.”
I will continue to apply intellectual rigor and critical thinking to the range of important issues that our nation faces. I will not, however, choose ideology over integrity or place partisanship before principle. Furthermore, I will not succumb to fear-mongering strategies from any Party or candidate.

All these organizing ideas are great but someone needs to take the bull by the horns, or donkey by the tail, step up and start organizing them.
We must also make sure that our efforts do not occur simultaneously with other already-organized efforts. This splits our effectiveness by the numbers.
I believe there are several plans in the works for the Denver meeting by justsaynodeal.
All I can say is that if no one emails me ideas for the action list and updates for the project list, we’re all whizzin in the wind and getting wet. This is what Murphy takes to her team meetings with our sister sites.
Lists are being kept – by me and several other pumas. I will post the project list in the next post.

susy, Sen. Klobuchar is correct. they aren’t supposed use their resources as Senator (e.g., email accounts) to respond to anything having to do with the presidential election. she’s not just blowing you off. i got a similar response from Sen. Boxer and no response from Sen. Feinstein (even though she usually send some kind of form letter when i’ve written her in the past). Sen Boxer’s reply was that bc this wasn’t official Senate business, she couldn’t reply to messages about the prez race that were sent to her Senate email. note that it only said she couldn’t reply, not that the message wasn’t read. Sen. Klobuchar also didn’t say she hadn’t read the message, only that she couldn’t reply using her Senate email.
i re-sent my email to Sen. Boxer to the email addy for her fundraising org. that’s basically what Sen. Klobuchar has already done for you. you don’t have to re-send it. that’s good.

i agree. i want to esp target the SDs up for re-election. that would be all Congressppl, most Governors, and ~1/3 of the Senators.
i think it would be esp helpful to target the SDs who are up for re-election and who’ve endorsed BO when their district (HoR) or state (Senate, Governor) voted for HRC. maybe we can try to send PUMA info to ppl in their districts. i’d like to support their opponents if we can. (however, i realize this may not be a priority for the $$$ we raise here. still, i think if we could get enough of them to realize that their endorsement of BO may make it more difficult to get re-elected, that’s going to do more to persuade them to endorse HRC than thousands of emails or letters.)

I then wrote to Senator Nelson, thanked him for the work he did in writing this proposal and told him that I had written to Senators Murray and Cantwell and asked them to support him.

Democratic Female Senators Rally, Without Clinton, to Build Party Unity

The woman who came so close to being the Democratic nominee has not surfaced at her Capitol Hill office (or anywhere else) since leaving the race, and there are reports that some women are so frustrated with Democrats for selecting Barack Obama over Hillary Clinton they could flee the party to support McCain.
But for the other ten Democratic women in the Senate, today it was time to “put our lipstick on, square our shoulders and suit up for change.”
Those defiant words came from Sen. Barbara Mikulski, D-Md., the self-appointed dean of the women’s caucus in the Senate and a Clinton supporter during the Democratic primary battle.
“During the primary we had different favorite candidates, said Mikulski, who, at less than 5 feet tall, stood on a riser to see over the podium to an assemblage of Capitol Hill staffers and advocates from women’s groups.
“But today, but now we have come together to offer America a checklist for change.”
Women the world over, she said, rely on checklists, and senators are no different.
“Like women everywhere the way we get something done is to have a checklist, a must-do list, and no matter what at the end of the day we get the job done.”
She said that as women in the Senate, she and her colleagues were going to concentrate not only on “macro issues” but on “macaroni and cheese issues.”
From seeking “equal pay for equal work” with legislation to “protecting the families check book,” by standing up to the oil, pharmaceutical and cell phone industries, 10 of the 11 Democratic female senators took to a podium erected at the former home (now a museum) of suffragette Alice Paul, who wrote the Equal Rights Amendment, which gave women the right to vote only during the last century and was so often cited during the primary season.

The one female senator not at today’s event: Clinton herself.
“The issues highlighted at today’s event are those that Senator Clinton has worked on for decades, and she will continue to be a champion for them,” said Philippe Reines, her spokesman.
While Reines said “Senator Clinton never stopped working” after the primary, it has become a mystery which undisclosed location she is working from or when exactly she’ll bring her schedule back to her Capitol Hill office. Clinton has not missed votes on any measures on which she could have changed the outcome.
My question is this:

To ty to understand Senator’s McCain stance on Roe v Wade, I visited his site and there was discussion on the blog regarding the subject. It appears that Senator McCain does not want to over turn the case because it is settled law, he simply believes that it should be handled at the state instead of the federal level. He also is concerned that to overturn it might result in some illegal abortions and he will not stand behind that.
This has been the scare tactic for many elections by the DEMS and when researched as stated above it has survived through many Republican presidential years.
It truly amazes me how Senator O wants to destroy the Clinton Machine but asks that they assist him to be elected by endorsing/campaigining for him. It also amazes me that so many Americans are so eager for change or what they think will be change that they will possibly vote an unknown into office.

WASHINGTON — Barack Obama is quietly planning to take over the Democratic National Committee and assemble a multistate team for the general election, the latest sign that he is putting rival Hillary Rodham Clinton and the nomination fight behind him. Top Obama organizer Paul Tewes is in discussions to run the party, several Democratic officials said Tuesday.
Obama spokesman Bill Burton said no final decisions have been made on general election plans and that such decisions would be premature with Obama yet to clinch the nomination.
Tewes is one of the leading architects of Obama’s success in the marathon Democratic primary race. He engineered Obama’s critical victory in the Iowa caucuses on Jan. 3, which gave Obama the upper hand and Clinton was never able to fully overcome.
DNC executive director Tom McMahon and DNC political director Dave Boundy traveled to Chicago last week to meet with Tewes and other campaign officials to discuss merging efforts. The party officials have held similar meetings with Clinton campaign officials and last week got an agreement with both campaigns to start raising money that will benefit the eventual nominee.
The Obama campaign also is in discussions with staffers who will be dispatched to various swing states, but holding off on making announcements until Obama has won the nomination. Officials who spoke to The Associated Press about the discussions insisted on anonymity because the campaign wanted to keep the deliberations quiet.
Obama needs 2,026 delegates to clinch the nomination, and he moved within 100 of that goal after contests in Kentucky and Oregon Tuesday. Clinton was more than 250 delegates back.
The staffing decisions are a natural progression for Obama, who still is engaged in a primary campaign while Republican candidate John McCain has been free to prepare his general election team for months. Obama will have to hit the ground running to make up for lost time when, as expected, he dispatches Clinton.
Democratic and Republican nominees traditionally install loyalists at their party committees even though it is technically headed by its chairman — in this case Howard Dean, the former Vermont governor and a presidential candidate four years ago.
McCain has put his own team at the Republican National Committee to operate a Victory Fund Committee that is corralling top donors and plotting strategy for the general election. McCain took the steps shortly after locking up the nomination after primary wins on March 4.
But Obama cannot afford to move too quickly toward the general election, or he will risk alienating Clinton supporters who are already emotional about the likelihood of their chosen candidate’s closely fought defeat.
There have been other steps toward the Democratic nomination. Obama has been campaigning in general election battleground states. Fundraisers for the two campaigns have held quiet discussions on working together in the fall campaign. And Obama’s campaign reached out to former Clinton campaign manager Patti Solis Doyle about joining forces for the general election, although several other top Clinton staffers said they have not been contacted.

Last week I received a letter on DSCC letterhead from Senator Chuck Schumer, NY, asking me to donate and join. Again, today I receive a similar offer under the same letterhead from J. B. Poersch, the Executive Director of DSCC (Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee).
I had been so upset when I received Chuck Schumer’s letter, I was unable to respond; but I did so today – here’s what I had to say:
Dear Senator Schumer -
I have admired, respected and supported you for many years and was happy to see that you were one of Senator Clinton’s staunchest supporters – until recently!
I have been a LOYAL Democrat for almost fifty years and am heartbroken at the way the DNC and the Good Old Boys treated Senator Clinton during her recent campaign. I am sure that you have been as pained as I am over the unfair street-like tactics employed. They intentionally created an UNLEVEL playing field from the very beginning.
I believe the DNC’s Selected unDemocratic (Presumptive) Nominee will not be elected in November, primarily because he is not qualified, and does not have the experience and good judgement we desparately need, to get our country back. The more I hear and read about the DEVIOUS preparations and plans Obama and his wife have set out to gain the White House, the more scared I become.
Unfortunately, the powers that be at the DNC and DBC have put the screws to you, in forcing you to endorse their SELECTED nominee. I don’t believe it for a minute that you would have not remained UNCOMMITTED, if it were not for their pressure.
I am hoping that Senator Clinton’s name will NOT be removed from the Ballot in Denver and that you will cast your ‘unpressured’ vote for her. I am one of the 18 million who believes in her and are working hard to take back our Party and our Country. The last thing I want to do is for for McBush, but I may not have a choice.
Please help us – we will help you as well, at the proper time.

I have been committed to my party for 30 years and I as many here did work on HRC campaign. When you read something as offensive as that article on sexism, and how the media and Howard Dean tried to put their own spin on it, then yes I do think we should target each one of them. Make them face up to the fact that they did indeed make sexist comments about Hillary. I have been on this blog since the beginning, maybe we should check you out.

Sassysenora – you know, sometimes we have to have a visual that’s “out there” and your brainstorming ideas were perfectly legit. Our letters and faxes and emails have an effect, and they make noise, and hopefully are getting noticed the way we want them to be.
As a teacher–I know that some of my students have to be shown information in different ways for it to be processed. And I think that’s where you are coming from, and your intent should not be discarded. Not all of us can You-tube, or even have access to it to send out info. The undecided voters out there need messages from PUMA in many ways, as do the politicians. It gets noticed. It leaves an imprint. It makes people uncomfortable and ask questions–and that’s the point.
I want to stamp puma paw prints everywhere–I want to put PUMA eyes “watching you” everywhere. There may be something we can come to a consensus about that will be another avenue to get the message out. As someone mentioned earlier in a post–we don’t have unlimited time in this window–our respectful actions are a must, and we can do something “noisy” too.
It’s not like we are calling up the DNC and asking them if their refrigerators are running and to go catch them…we just want them to know how very, very, very ANGRY we are.

This might be something we can sink our PUMA teeth into. Also, do we have some idea who many of us are out here, including sister/brother sites? Media keeps repeating that we are a small but signigicant number whatever that means.
WHAT WE WANT
We PUMA’s, as one group of united voices for the 18 million supporters of Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton’s 2008 bid for the presidential nomination, hereby make a statement as to WHAT WE WANT.
WE WANT All caucus proceedings for the 2008 primary to be reviewed by an independent agency for fraudulent practices.
WE WANT any states where caucus proceedings are found to be fraudulent to award delegates to the candidate who won by vote i.e. (Texas)
WE WANT an end to the caucus system in any future primary season.
WE WANT All candidates placing a bid for nomination to the Presidency to declare proof of citizenship.
WE WANT an independent investigation agency to review campaign tactics for irregularities of all Presidential candidates.
WE WANT to abolish the superdelegate vote in the democratic primaries.
WE WANT primaries in ALL 50 states and territories.
WE Want a rotating primary schedule for future primaries that does not allow favoritism.
WE WANT a proportionate primary system that accurately reflects the votes of the voters or a winner take all primary.
WE WANT to ensure that blatant sexism and misogyny by the media and others, i.e. DNC members, is eradicated.
WE WANT the media, DNC and other perpetrators of misogyny and sexism to acknowledge and formally make amends for their blatant discrimination in the 2008 primary season.
WE WANT an enforceable plan sponsored by the DNC to ensure that misogyny and sexism as displayed in 2008

Yes mini vee I do think it has to do with the convention. We have military helicopters here at Buckley that train ocassionally but never any like this! I went to the state convention as a delegate for Hillary. Part of the “experience” was supposed to be a tour of Cheyenne Mountain and Fort Carson. Both of these were cancelled. Those helicopters last night were big and mean looking, able to carry missles! Much larger than the ones we sometimes see. That why people upset. And practicing landing (although didn’t totally touch down) NUMEROUS times on top of a building in the middle of the city??? This has NEVER happened here before, nor has this type of helicopter been flown over the city. They were flying so low thought they might knock out the lights at the stadium

thanks, Lin4Hill. i may have been overly sensitive bc it IS so difficult for me to cut and paste things like lists. i personally think that sending concrete things (in addition to FAXES and emails) has more impact. if nothing else, the list last night helped ppl here work on something that might help the cause and that definitely helped us build our team and blow off steam.
i understand if other ppl don’t think sending things like turtles on sticks (with the post turtle joke) or screws is the best way to send a message to the DNC (or maybe SDs). but the DNC doesn’t seem to be paying attention to the faxes/emails. further, the orange and shoe campaigns didn’t seem to have any blowback against the groups who sent them. i don’t see how this is different. (i didn’t add things like sending raccoon poop, which was suggested but i think not seriously.)
So we are supporting the DSCC…I removed my membership from them a couple of months ago…because they kept sending me Obama garbage. Why would we support something that doesn’t stand for what we believe in. They believe in getting someone elected and any cost. Including Obama

i’m not supporting the DSCC or the DCCC. they’ll give money to ppl who’ve endorsed BO even though their district (DCCC) or state (DSCC) voted overwhelmingly for HRC. i think we should boycott the DSCC and the DCCC. if you want to contribute to or otherwise support a specific Senator or Congressperson, that would be good. that’s what i’m doing.

The problem with sending things like this is that it is used for their advantage to symbolize their support for “we don’t want this stuff anymore.” We have to think of something that will make an impact. People have got to get through to the students. There has to be more information out there on his deep-roots. That is what has individuals a little skeptical.

In getting the info out, I believe it’s important that we reframe the entire discussion.

After all, the injustice that was done during this presidential election in the primary is a key to why the presumptive nominee was selected, not elected.

If John McCain said “uhh” 144 times in 11 minutes, the press corps would be saying he has Alzheimer’s disease. But with Obama, nary a word about it. In time, Obama the lighweight, is going to reveal himself for all the world to see. We just have to hope it is BEFORE November 4 so the American people will not make a truly terrible mistake.
P.S. Obama referred to “President Maliki” of Iraq, when he is the “Prime Minister” of Iraq (5:40 mark of the video). Again, if John McCain did that it would be a week of stories about his “age.”

BO is so friggin’ tacky. Noticed in the video clip Elect2009 provided at the very top he’s telling people to cough up $5 even if they are poor. All I can think of was in one of Hillary’s victory speech she mentioned how grateful she was for her supporters giving her their lunch money and would be eating ramen for the week. There’s humility and then there’s I-don’t-care-how-poor-you-are-Barak. He makes me sick.

good idea. if your email is mostly to protest the way the primaries/caucuses were handled, checking the box for electoral reform or something similar (if there is such a box) would be a good way to let your reps respond to you using their Senate or House accounts.

The BO supporters have looked upon this as a game “a sport” with no idea that our contempt for this candidate is because of serious investigation and paying attention to what is happening: Media controlling information in support of the highest bidder, sexism (gross gender discrimination) and the complete undermining of Democracy for the dangerous game of “Win at All Costs”. This includes, but is not limited to, inserting dictatorship-type practices to undermine our Constitutional Rights.
BO supporters have no idea how they have been bought and sold by a far left-wing radical bunch. So left-wing in fact, that our Nation’s Constitution no longer matters. What matters is the end-game of power and control at the expense of true Democracy. It will change the power of the people’s voices in the election process, if successful, and we may never have the power of a collective conscious of fairness, equality, or even basic respect for our country to guide our futures.
Kool-Aide packages and tombstones may be appropriate symbols of our cynicism in reaction to their positions, but they are a far cry from what the message needs to be:
Our Democracy, Constitution and our futures are all at stake. Why? Because in getting away with this once (2000) or twice (2004) and now at risk for a third time, the future of radical-runaway elections (selections) will take our Nation right into the same conditions that those voiceless innocents in underdeveloped countries face each day of their lives – “No Hope for Fair Elections thus No True Democracy”.
The civil “wars” in those countries are now no more reflective of “fighting for Democracy” than Kool-Aide is about “poison”. They began with dirty politicians, power mongers, oppression specialists and ended up with not giving a damn about the collective good of “All the People”. Now, those wars are about hopelessness, hunger, and the great divide between power, wealth, and “the people”.
Let’s not sell ourselves out by taking the most important cause we will ever be involved in to behaviors reflective of some of the sicker minds we’ve faced in American History.
Hillary “cried” for a reason – there is nothing “funny”, “trendy” or “hopeful” about what is happening to our Democracy. I don’t care what they say. The American Way was never intended to become a “dictatorship” – and whatever the end-game they are playing for – it does not justify the means.

Nobody ever thought THAT would change… but just look at what the Bush Administration with the court’s complicity has done. If anyone thinks the courts won’t change a long-held sacred law or ruling, just take a look at California’s new marriage rights. While I whole heartedly support California’s recent rulings, I DO fear a US Supreme Court with one more conservative and I don’t think it’s a unreasonable fear.

I don’t want to beat a dead horse and I know that most of you are supporting McCain, and believe me, I really, really want to believe right along with you that McCain won’t turn back the hand of time. But check out his own website – it’s not the MSM spreading falsehoods, it is ON HIS WEBSITE that he wants to overturn Roe. Yeah, yeah, maybe can’t do it himself – but he surely can do it with one new Supreme Court justice. Though Murphy is correct, it hasn’t gone away in 34 (mostly Republican) years but that is only because the judges are only replaced by death or resignation. The balance has shifted so significantly now that Sandra Day O’Connor has stepped down, that McCain will only have to replace ONE judge before the anti-choice philosophy will be the majority. The Court has already shown us what it can do about wiretapping, surveillance, torture, privacy and just yesterday in the US District Court, the Freedom of Information Act. Although many of you seem confident that he can’t or won’t change Roe, I don’t think it is unreasonable to worry. I am basing my fears NOT on what the BO campaign might be pushing, or what the MSM says – but ON his own website. Please read it yourself on the issues page, under the sanctity of life. i’m not sure what McCain’s position on Roe is. he was more moderate in at least one interview and i think others. he’s a politician so he’s going to say what he thinks his audience wants to hear, at least to some extent.
however, as long as there are 41 Senators who are willing to filibuster an anti-Roe Supreme Ct. nomination, no president can appoint one to the Supreme Ct.
there will be more than 41 Dem senators and i’d think at least a few Repub senators would not want to overturn Roe, at least if they care about how their constituents feel about it.

there are moderate judges that McCain would support. i think it’s up to the Senate to make sure he appoints moderates, not right-wing idealogues. that’s their job.

What’s democratic about the Democratic Party?
That’s what we should all be asking after the DNC’s Rules and Bylaws Committee chose to ignore the wishes of Michigan voters. Despite of the fact that Sen. Obama was not on the Michigan ballot, the Committee still awarded him those delegates listed as Uncommitted and also four of the delegates won by Senator Hillary Clinton. In addition, Michigan’s and Florida’s delegates will only be allowed half a vote in the nominating process at the Democratic National Convention to be held in Denver, Colorado from August 25-28, 2008.
Democratic Party leaders have chosen to ignore democratic principles because by breaking the rules their chosen candidate, Senator Barack Obama, could in effect be deemed the “winner.” Yet, the American people did not choose Senator Obama.
PUMA Democrats, along with many other organizations, have chosen to protest the 2008 election. Even though the mainstream media rarely reports our efforts, as they have clearly taken sides in this election process, we represent millions of people who have been disenfranchised by this new Democratic Party.
We hope that you join in our efforts to reform the Democratic Party and demand that they address their clear favoritism and sexism at the Democratic National Convention. This party should represent the wishes of the American people and not those of a select few.

As supporters of democracy, I know that you are speaking out against the strange notion of holding the Democratic National Convention in Chicago-the hub of political corruption-as well as the un-democratic idea suggested by Howard Dean (may he get well soon) of not putting Senator Clinton on the first roll call ballot. After all, we all remember that he was on a previous roll call ballot up against John Kerry. In addition, refusinng to have a roll call ballot would only fuel the fire, as it is well known that Senator Obama unethically used the rules such that he would run unopposed for his Senate seat.
I still believe that Senator Clinton is the best possible candidate the DNC could put forth. Her credentials are stellar, and people would cross party lines to vote for her. For example, I have a friend that is in the military who stated that he normally votes Republican, but that he would have voted for Senator Clinton. She, along with John McCain, inspires America with a sense of security.
A lot can happen between now and August. Please send my best wishes for a speedy recovery to Mr. Dean and Ms. Pelosi. Thank you for your continued support of Democracy.

I just saw Will Bowers latest interview and he spoke about a McCain/Clinton ticket. That is out of the box, and I like it. There is one more thing that would be needed to really put the icing on that cake.
The Democrats claim that it is necessary to get a Democrat in the White House to get a liberal appointed to the US Supreme Court. These guys are lifers and it is a major big deal to the long term survival of the party. I would have to guess that this is the Big Stick that is being used on reluctant Superdelegates to conform.
Those jerks are not really worried about getting us a good President. They just want job security.
What if it were made a campaign issue and McCain conceded to promising the appointment of a moderate? And/or HC VP?

I haven’t read any of the comments n here yet so you may know this but Gov. Jennifer Granholm ( Gov of Michigan ) was booed last when she mentioned Hillary’s name to a bo crowd. Gore was booed also when he told the bo crowd to be respectful of McCain……………..I’ll bet Gore has second thoughts of endorsing bo now……………..I LOVE IT. Cnn just said that the democratic party is split and bo doesn’t know how to unify the party……………Guess what it isn’t going to happen. I don’t watch CNN but my husband had it on.

This is a serious question. If HC is going to stand by BO and ask people to back him and donate money, do we keep protesting? I will never vote for BO or give the DNC money even if HC asks me to do it. Is our time better spent working for McCain or another non-Dem candidate? If we choose to continue protesting then don’t we need to step up our efforts or use a different tactic after June26th? I don’t know what to think. What do you think? -Lara08

O.K., I didn’t want to put a damper on things, but every movement has to reevaluate its course of action every once in a while. You are right. We should wait and see what will happen next week. The thing is that clearly BO and his campaign don’t know what to do, so I can only imagine that they’ve been pushing HC to step up and unite the party. As far as I’m concerned it is broken and we know who broke it. I can’t be part of a party that has treated its loyal base the way the BO camp has. There’s no way.

I know this can be frustrating as to what we are going to do in Nov. I was going to vote for McCain because I thought he was better than bo and then I thought WTH am I thinking. Soooooooooooo if I can’t write in Hillary’s name then I am not voting. I think it is such a personal thing that each one of us has to decide. One thing I know and that is I will not vote for bo. I am hoping Hillary is trying to figure out her next move, remember she “suspended” so I am hoping she is looking at this from every angle and she will make a smart move.
I might add that HC can’t make BO a more qualified presidential candidate.

There are a lot of us that aren’t buying bo. I’ll stay home before I vote for him.
I felt like I was being forced to vote for McCain. You aren’t the only one struggling with this. The more research I do on bo the more I worry about him getting into office.
A resident of Florida on another blog, received a request from Obummer asking for donations. She sent half of a check and a note of explanation (1/2 vote = 1/2 person = 1/2 donation, etc.) Several others, including me, are getting onboard and doing the same.
All y’all are welcome / invited to do the same.
An alternative is sending pennies and tying up their time dealing with pennies, hundreds, maybe thousands of pennies.
I have a comment, you know I heard on some news channel last night that Hillary supporters are just making noise so she will get the VP spot. Well I’m not one them..I disagree , I don’t think that is what this site or the many like them are either. I am here because the people have been trampled on, and no name didn’t get the delegates to become the nominee.
As for Hillary I think we have to just wait and see what will happen with her, but I don’t think it is her duty to campaingn for him, or to unify the party, isn’t that his job? Mr. want to be President but don’t know what to do except insult people. Just some venting thank you LOL
Millions of people will stay home. There are people like us who have decided to be proactive and protest, but I would guess that a silent majority of people have already decided that they will protest by voting for McCain or staying home. Oh well, I thought we were helping by getting party leaders to see the error of their ways. If they can’t see they are on train that’s about to crash then that’s that.
I hope that Hillary is sitting back and getting the rest she deserves. Reminds me of when Keith Olbermann slammed Hillary for sleeping through a thunderstorm on the plane and said she would probably not hear the phone at 3 am. The fact that she had had almost no sleep the night before didn’t matter to him. What a jerk.
I hope she is doing research and biding her time until the convention when hopefully buyers remorse will happen and the delegates will put her over the top. I have to believe this could happen. Keep visualizing her in the Oval Office and taking the Oath.

I will try to wait it out until closer to November to see what happens with Hillary, but I believe Hillary was done unjustly, and I am sure she will always remain Democratic, however, I believe at this time she is wondering what the “hey” is happening to all of those Democrats. I will not vote for BO, no matter what.
bo should be trying to unify the democratic party not Hillary……….. He is the one that divided the party. He has to figure out how he can fix it and it surely isn’t going to be any better if he is the President. I do not think this is fixable to much has happened.

The DNC has left both I and millions of other Democratic voters hanging like a “CHAD”.
I have to agree with Donna Brazile, that if the “Will of the people” is overturned by Delegates, I will consider leaving the party.

There were three radio hosts on Lou Dobbs show tonight.
One, an African American woman who said that women were coming over to BO’s side.
I wrote Lou and told him how wrong she was. I told him about our group, and our feelings about the action taken by the DNC in “selecting” BO.
I told him the Independents and our group would decide the next President, and it wouldn’t be BO.
As for Hillary making a joint appearance with BO, she is a great woman and is sticking with the party that would not support her..
I have not changed my mind. BO is a ticking time bomb.
He knows nothing about foreign affairs. I don’t know if he knows anything. Almost his entire time in the Senate (2-1/2 yrs) was spent running for President..
I don’t want him anywhere near that phone at 3:00 am.
Please don’t stop supporting this group. Hillary is doing what she thinks she has to do. We must do what we have to do.

I am not attacking the Republicans but I do not want another 4 years of what we have now or 100 years of war. I think we are close to hitting bottom here in the United States. I remember how it was when Bill Clinton was President and I am sure Hillary would be just as good or even better……………..she is one intellegent lady with a lot of experience.
The DNC brought this on themselves I find it amusing that they are in financial trouble…………they are not getting a dime from me. I’ll donate to Hillary as I have been once I know the money is going to her but not a cent to bo. I am also going to donate here, I just have to get past mid July with insurance bills. Either we all insubordinate democrats want to be part of an “Independent Democratic Coalition” that will fade out with the issues of the day or a solid organization that can stand the test of time.

After reading that people think *61 used the GOP tatics. Maybe we should try to beat them at their own game. Get the polls to reflect that *61 is ahead, that we are falling in line, that way maybe the GOP would start vetting *61 because they are afraid to wait. *61 would probably really start getting a bigger head and make even more mistakes. We need *61 totally vetted before the convention. During the time we donate to PUMA to build up our funds and help payoff Hillarys debt. We make plans to pull the plug in August when they don’t have time to do damage control with us saying we will leave the party if Senator Clinton is not the nominee after all that has come out about *61. But it would be the GOP and *61 that caused the loss not Hillary.
Just a thought, I am totally frustrated with the DNC – and *61 scared me to death.

What a great job you are doing! I am out of town and have limited computer access. But had a few things I wanted to say.
Do you realize the things you have accomplished in just a few short weeks? YOU are making history RIGHT now.
I know you are working so hard on getting the PUMA word out and wanted to pass this along. I recently heard, by a political media person, that radio is one of the best and least expensive way to get your message out. He said they have some really good research on demographics and targeting certain groups. I don’t imagine it has to be just political stations but all types which target specific audiences.
Finally, just a reminder of how great you guys are (not counting trolls).
1. YOU have propelled an organization which started just 2 WEEKS AGO!
2. YOU have designed, made and distributed great promotional materials with more emerging all the time.
3.Hundreds if not thousands of letters have been sent to politicians and media, getting huge national notoriety.
4. Hundreds of thousands of hits on this website have been made to this website.
5. Huge numbers of people are joining this organization and fight.
6. YOU have helped to put NBC 27th among the cable news staions behind the “Tomato Channel!” (Let’s see if we can make it last with CNN second to last!)
7. The amount of PRESS time PUMAS and other sister organizations have gotten in the last few weeks is phenomenal and continues to grow.
8. YOU have gathered and used large amounts of information on all facets of politics that would have taken months to research, if not years.
8.Guess what? It may be hard to believe but all the trolls and websites out there blasting us and other Senator Clinton supporters are validating why we are here and are giving us a huge amount of attention (although not the best right now) which means they are very nervous. Otherwise we wouldn’t be worth their time. Keep the pressure on.
9. The number of delegates refusing to endorse NONAME AND speaking out about it, is increasing
EVERYDAY!!
What is important about this is that it shows the tide is turning and those that truly want the best for our country and the people are taking a stand against corruption and won’t be bullied by the democratic party
10. You have forged relationships and friendships that you would not have had, if it wasn’t for those that started PUMAS and keep it going!
These are just some of the examples of your success and I felt I just wanted to thank you for all that you have done and reflect on how much success you have had and I believe we will prevail. So, pat yourselves on the backs and say “WOW, I am really terrific!”

Diva1, thanks for your e-mail! I think I’m just tired and overwhelmed (that’s why I posed that question about HC’s upcoming appearance with BO). I don’t have time to read all the comments, so sometimes I catch all the ones with bad news and that doesn’t help. I also don’t really go to other HC sites, so I haven’t been able to see the big picture. There are thousands of people out there protesting. Once in a while, if some of you get a chance, post up some good news that will get us going. Personally, I need that every once in a while.

Murphy, there is a message from a blogger on hillaryisourchoice.com that really made sense.
They suggested that each site get a list of all the members and their emails. All the site managers could also get together on weekly conferences to keep this ball rolling until November.
Because everyone is shy to give email addresses on the blog sites, you and your team could go through the blogs and get a list of the regular and “true-blu” hillary supporters. I believe when we all signed up as members, we gave you our email address. I know it sounds like a lot of work, huh.
It’s a suggestion that might be beneficial. We all have a long road till November to remain strong and loyal to this cause.

I read a statement by Howard Dean, shortly after BO was selected. Dean stated that when he failed in his attempt to gain the presidential nomination it took him 4-5 weeks to get over it. So, he figures it is going to take the Hillary supports that long too and maybe a little longer. I have marked July 1st on my calendar…four weeks from the Tuesday night when BO was selected. I will then let Dean know that while he had to “get over” not being selected as a presidential nominee, it is four weeks (on that date) and, gee, funny thing, I didn’t “get over” having the 2008 presidential election hijacked. There is a big difference between what he went through and what 18 million United States citizens had done to them. “Get over it!” Honest to Pete, does this guy even listen to himself?

PS…I read that Hillary has agreed to meet jointly with Obama and her fundraisers. Apparently, Obama’s group came across as arrogant while they were looking for money, so they need her to intervene with her people.

I think someone else mentioned that he/she rec’d a letter from Dean regarding McCain’s breaking of the law for taking lobby money. Gee, it gives me such pleasure to respond to this nimrod and all of his email pleas. I told him that *he* spearheaded the move to break the DNC rules; that Obama receives lobbyist money but skirts the ethics litmus test because of a technicality…the lobbyists are not now practicing, but they have raised millions of dollars for the Obama campaign by tapping their partners. .. just a wink and a nod operation. I also told him that his esteemed DNC member, Donna Brazile has been seen in the media and forever memorialized on the internet stating that the democratic party did not need the core democratic constituency anymore; that the “new” constituency of young voters would comprise the the “new” democratic party. You have to smile when compelled to write Dean and tell him you are *so* very sorry that the DNC does not have the funds to cover the costs of the Denver Convention, oh, and by the way, I just sent a donation to PUMA and McCain.

With so much controversy about BHO’s place of birth and Birth Certificate, shouldn’t we push that issue forcefuly to the bitter end?
It’s known around the bloggs that his campaign team have been reluctant to come forward and the question is why. I download the so-call certificate from Hawaii and to me it looks rather dubious.
By requesting from him to make public all valid and legal papers of his place, date of birth and historical facts of his past, we could accomplish alot.
He may not be a natural citizen and can not be President of the USA.
Should you be interested in the a copy of such a certificate, please let me know.
Though you may already have it.
